I used the same little gray floral as the backing for the binding on this small quilt and did it all by machine. It finishes around 29 x 41 before washing. I think this will be a great tummy time quilt for a new baby.
I decided to hand finish the binding on the pastel 16 patch so I'm not quite finished with it yet.
It was overcast yesterday and cool but a little more humid. I went out late in the afternoon to pull violets and weeds so I could rake the area for my new path. This is the 16 leftover paver blocks from my front garden project and they make a nice path through the heavy shade section of my back garden. This is where all of the Jack in the Pulpit plants are as well as a variety of Hostas.
I had some small flagstone pieces as a path through there before and a few are remaining to continue the path. Maybe I'll get a few more pavers next year. Other than planting a few things I have in pots I am done with the gardening except clean up in the back. I need to cut down the peonies soon.
Love how the little paver path through the shady garden looks...really pretty.
ReplyDeleteNice tummy time quilt baby quilt finish, too...
The weather has been just golden here--we were able to sit out on the deck in the coolness. Hugs, Julierose
the pavers look perfect in the shade garden - I need to start to clean up the garden but will wait for cooler weather which won't get here before October I imagine
ReplyDeleteSweet tummy time quilt. I am inspired by your pavers and have plans to incorporate them in several places around our gardens. We have some we can dig up in the back yard to start.
ReplyDeleteI did a quick survey of my garden to see where I need to cut down and where I can plant some perennials in pots that I babied all season. It rained last night, so maybe tomorrow I can plant. Love that pastel little quilt- looks scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteFabrics so soothing, for your soft cuddly baby quilt. And love the binding on your 16 patch, really adds punch to the piece. Anxious to see it finished as well.
ReplyDeletePavers have become quite a garden trend. And they add definition to your gardens. We put natural rock pavers in our back 4 step tier garden about 3 years ago. More pavers than flowers now. And I love it that way. Less work for this old gal.

Thanks for the peep at a couple of the older Kaffe prints in the pastel quilt,I do wish he would bring a few of these smaller prints.
ReplyDeleteYour paver pathway through that part of the garden is looking good, I can imagine how it will look when all the plants come up.
I do so agree about the smaller KF prints … they are so useful! Lovely improvement with the pavers, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little quilt!
ReplyDeleteI do love a nine patch! And the 16 patch too-sweet quilts to be working with now.
ReplyDeletePretty finish! Those pavers made a nice path. Weather is suppose to be nice this next week so I am going to try and get the rest of the weeding done that I didn't have time to do over Labor Day. I need to go and harvest some cone flower seeds so I can try to start some plants early next spring.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog post very much. Your photo of the Tummy Time quilt is beautiful! I really enjoy seeing all of your prints together. I also appreciate your garden photos!! This morning I saw the bright nine patch photo with the zebra stripes surrounding several squares. Well done. Please keep posting your progress.
