Trimming and binding..............

I did straight line quilting on this quarter log cabin quilt.  I took it off the frame and trimmed the edges, chose a binding and cut the strips.

My thread was Superior So Fine in a medium value beige/tan.  The only place it shows much is on the black fabric.

I started the hand sewing on the binding of the pineapple log cabin small quilt.

The weather has turned pleasant once again and the whole week looks great.  Once I get my end of the month quilts finished I will need to get outside and pull weeds in the back garden.

Today is my pacemaker's 4th birthday and my second great-grandson's 5th birthday.

  1. Looks like you will have a finish for the month! Yeah! I guess you could have used almost any fabric for the binding on the quarter log cabin quilt. It is so pretty and colorful! I sure hope the weather turns decent here. The humidity and temps are still high. I need to so some serious weeding myself.

  6. Oh, I love that quarter log cabin! Thanks for mentioning what color thread you used to quilt it. I have a string quilt with black and colorful strings and was not really sure what color to use to quilt it. Now I know what will look good!

Thank goodness it is cooler here now too. Last week's heat wave really wore me down and I still have lots of gardening to do.

  10. Wow, I really like the log cabin quilt that you showed you had just finished!! Amazing! I went back to see when you had finished the top. I was trying to see if you had a pattern or had just done a quarter log cabin with very small strips of different sizes. Looks like it would be fun! Congratulations on finishing after 8 years! I know the feeling for sure!

  13. Is there a pattern for the Square in a Square? We are in the process of moving. At this time waiting on paper work. So planning quilts and ideas. Then flooring and layout for studio stuffs. Did not realize I had so much fabric till I started boxing. I did cheat a bit on the labeling. But trying to keep calm with creative ideas. Thanks. Vivian.
