I got the blocks all sewn into a top but lacked the get up and go to find the borders yesterday. I guess it is that 'rest on Sunday' thing that keeps me from working too hard. It measures about 40" x 60" right now. (Pattern: Matrix by SpringLeaf Studios) I will add a 2" finished border of the background gray print (or maybe a different gray Kaffe print) first and then a 5" border of a larger print so it will finish at 54" x 74", which is a nice throw quilt size.
It is going to be extremely humid this week so I should get a lot of cutting and sewing done.
My largest Coral Bell is in bloom now with fluffy flower stalks. The bees really love these.
And then there are the dainty Coral Bell blooms in bright pink.
The cone shaped Hydrangea blooms are turning darker pink now. The description of them on the tag makes it sound like they will get even deeper pink so we shall wait and see.
The Old Timey Yellow plant has produced a few tomatoes and they are really good. The first one to ripen was 2 that grew together and it was huge. I don't see any new tomatoes on the plant so I don't know if it is done or just resting because it has been so hot.
Proud of you for getting after those borders! The deer have munched my coral bells to the ground :-(
ReplyDeleteYour garden spots are really coming into their own ! Such pretty coral bells...
ReplyDeleteLuckily for us, we only had some down pourings of rain and a few gusts of wind...but we came through pretty unscathed here.
Thankfully, Julierose
That top looks great! Your cora bells are so much bigger than mine and they are beautiful! I don't know if I don't water mine enough or if they need fertilizer. They are doing better since the deer don't chomp on them. I was at a greenhouse yesterday and they had loads of huge cora bells for sale. They had the really dark purple ones along with those lime green ones. The were $16.00 - $20.00 each so I did not buy any.
ReplyDeletemy tomatoes have slowed down a lot but I still have a lot of green ones but they are having a lot of bottom rot early on and I just keep plucking off the vine and tossing them. Sometimes on the weekend I get done with very little sewing - other than some handwork - almost like I need a couple days off just like I did when I went into an office to work.
ReplyDeleteI think the design would work without borders, but that would entail more blocks! Lovely garden flowers.
ReplyDeleteLooks great with all the blocks together. Can't wait to see the border. It will be a wonderful size. Hot and humid here, not my fave weather. I have to push myself to water today later.
ReplyDeleteJust finished reviewing the last several daily posts … This quilt top is magical, its like your gardens growing into into beautiful harvest of colorful blossoms.

I've just spent an enjoyable time reading through your last three posts, your garden plants look so healthy and flowering well, I've never seen a cone shaped Hydrangea before, beautiful colour. Matrix has worked out well and looking forward to seeing your border fabric choice.
