It was the last day that was going to be cool enough to bake something so I made the rhubarb cake I like so well. I got the recipe off the internet and there were several to choose from. Now I have some sweets in the freezer for the hot days that I can't bake. And yes I did eat dessert first....
I finished sewing the 16 patch baby quilt top but it isn't pressed yet. All of the fabrics are Kaffe collective and the backing will be the Kaffe cloud fabric. I have 6 1/2 yards of it so there will still be 5 yards left to back another quilt.
Oh I do love rhubarb…….believe it or not….an item that is difficult to find here…….where as in the midwest…….everyone wants to give you some!!
ReplyDeleteOh yum--rhubarb cake is so good. I don't care for strawberry rhubarb pie so much, but the cake is really good...

I love your philosophy!
ReplyDeleteI think you are going to have to add another tab to your blog for recipes! That rhubarb cake looks delicious. I did some research on your blog and best I can find is that you got the recipe from allrecipes. I searched their files and am trying to figure out which recipe you used, is it the Rhubarb Cake I by Barb Oke? And that baby quilt is looking precious!
ReplyDeletelove rhubarb but can't grow it here I have tried numerous times and you rarely can ever find it sold here. Over the years I have heard of a few people in the state that do grow it but I haven't a clue how they have success at it I need to remember to ask my brother if he had success with it he was going to try it last year I think and I know it takes about 3 years to get it established
ReplyDeleteYum, I love rhubarb cake. No longer have a source for free rhubarb and it's hard to find for sale. When you do find it, the bundle is usually too small to make a pie with. I tried growing it years ago, but our soil is has too much clay. Baby quilt will be adorable with that cloud backing.

That cloud fabric is PERFECT to back that sweet quilt top. And I'm a firm believer in eating dessert first (although the practical part of me rarely does).
ReplyDeleteOhhh....you reminded me or rhubarb crisp! Wonder if I can make it? Loved it when I had it at stepdaughter's house.
ReplyDeleteEven your photo shouts DELICIOUS rhubarb cake. You’re progressing well on baby quilt.

I miss rhubarb. It doesn't grow in the south. Cooking desserts on the cooler days is a good plan. It's just hard for me to not eat an extra when they're just sitting there.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely eat dessert first, especially when it looks that good.
ReplyDeleteI just love seeing the close up pictures of the KFC sixteen patch. The colors and patterns are so gorgeous! Makes me want to make another one.
