I have 10 blocks done now. I need to analyze what colors and values to put into this quilt. What I liked about this pattern is the interruptions in the strip lengths instead of having a connected plaid look. Next step is cutting more of one of the shapes out of the background fabric so I can continue.
I had a couple different packs of Marigold seeds plus one mixed pack that had Marigolds in it. These are the shortest ones and I planted them between some of the tomato plants that are along my driveway.
This is one of tall plants between the tomato plants in my raised bed in the backyard.
This is another of the tall ones in the back. I'm wondering if they will all be yellow.
A couple of my readers have told me that Four o'clocks self seed so I might have a whole bed of them some day. I forgot to go out and see if they were blooming yesterday. I have 3 that I dug up and put in pots (one is ready to bloom) because this bed is in the area where the tree cutting guy was going to be walking. In the end he only smashed one plant in that bed and one Brown Eyed Susan.
The largest parts of the limbs that fell by my kitchen window are waiting for someone with a saw to cut them up for my neighbor's campfires. I push them up by the bushes when I need to mow the grass.

The blocks are looking good. Your marigolds are pretty and you have a nice variety. That was a big limb to move! My little electric chain saw would make quick work of cutting that up. Too bad I don't live close.
I really like those little orange marigolds--I didn't plant any this year...miss their cheery blooms...
Your blocks are looking so great on that background...coming together so well...

The marigold in the first photo (darker one) is my favorite of all the marigolds. They just scream summertime for me.
Oh, I really like the Matrix with the unusual woven look.
We plant marigolds between our tomatoes and peppers too. Gosh they really bushed out this year. I'm not a big fan of marigolds but this year there is quite a display of a variety of different colors of flowers and they are gorgeous.
Good luck on the Four O'clocks reseeding. I hope they do for you. They never have for me and I've grown them for about six or seven years. I just collect the seeds and sow them myself the following spring.
And in re branches...we still have some downed branches from last year's derecho! Seems like every wind storm brings limbs. If I could only keep the mulberry, locust and walnuts from taking over every time I turn around!
I am so behind with reading the posts from folks so I'll just write the one comment. I have enjoyed your photos of your plants, they all looking in tip top condition, wish mine were! I love hostas but never tried to grow them at my place, I didn't realise that they had a scent. Sedums are a favourite of mine and the pink one you have is beautiful with the dark leaves. I did see Matrix on the Springleaf site, yours is looking good, I like the KF background fabric, really shows off the bright colours.
