I really don't have a large selection of 2+ yard pieces of Kaffe collective fabric that I thought might work as a border on this quilt. I think these 2 are possibilities though.
It probably helps to just see one at a time. This is Frilly in rusty orange and blue.
This one is Pencils in 2 shades of pink and lavender. I hesitate to put pink on a quilt that wasn't specifically made for someone who likes pink but then on the other hand there are a lot of flowers in this quilt too and usually flower lovers like pink. I'll think about it for a couple days.

If it's about making a choice between the two border fabrics, then it depends on if you want to calm the overall look (the red/pink) or want to push the overall boldness even further (the blue floral). Ironically, I actually like it the way it is with the ying/yang of the two different borders! I might even then add cornerstones of the opposite border fabric when you add the top and bottom border that matches each side. Your deftness with Kaffe prints always astounds!
ReplyDeleteLove the Frilly fabric best. It highlights the blue cornerstones and in photos brings an added depth to the quilt.
ReplyDeleteI also like Frilly the best--it seems to carry out the flowery theme..

I love the quilt and love the Frilly border.
ReplyDeleteI like both fabrics so I am no help! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI see that both of them could work. My preference is the pencils, as there are more red backgrounds in the blocks. For me, that makes a more unified design.
ReplyDeleteI picked Frilly the minute I saw the first photo. It just seemed to be the perfect choice for this quilt.
ReplyDeleteHow about using both of those prints? One on the right and bottom and the other on the left and top.
ReplyDeleteBoth look good. You may even come up with another idea when you think about it. Glad you are taking your time to let it percolate.
ReplyDeleteI love the Frilly fabric! Looks great with the quilt and sort of echoes the cornerstone color. Is that an old fabric? I just might have to try to find it, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWell, both look just fine, but to my mind the pencil print just kicks this up into another dimension! Stunning! (Whatever you select will be wonderful, of course...)
ReplyDeleteI'm in the pencil pew. This has been a fond one to follow. You never disappoint. Always eye candy everyday.

My vote goes to the red and blue, it brings out the radiance of all the blocks. I know you will select the perfect one for your eye. It’s really been a fun journey watching this one grow.

I like Frilly, it works so well with the corner stones.
ReplyDeleteThe Frilly suits the quilt better IMHO.
ReplyDeleteOh, definitely the frilly for me. I love the way those big blue blooms pull out the blue in your cornerstones and the subtle blue of the sharks teeth.
ReplyDeleteI like the Frilly best of those two. It continues the blues from the sashing and corner stones.
ReplyDeleteI would not have guessed it, but I really like the pencil print!
ReplyDeleteBoth are great and if the recipient were know that might help in the decision. I prefer the Frilly since it brings out the sashings and cornerstones and lets the blocks shine to me! I’m sure your marvelous eye for color will pick the one that you feel is the best for your beautifully pieced blocks!
ReplyDeleteI love the blue and red floral on the left side! You have such an amazing sense of color...
ReplyDeleteI like the one on the left. Looking forward to seeing what you do!
ReplyDeleteFrilly has my vote!
ReplyDeleteI think the pink pencils one is best IMHO.
