Some progress..........

It got up to 89 degrees yesterday.  I only have one window A/C for 1800 square feet right now so the house isn't very cool.  I had both units taken out when painting trim happened last fall and one was old and discarded. The other one is doing the best it can.  Hopefully I'll have a second unit put in soon.  I didn't have much energy yesterday but I got the last star designed after lunch.

I decided last night to sew the final block but none of them have been pressed yet.

The tomato plants in the raised bed in the backyard are doing pretty well.  There are a few funny looking leaves on top of a couple of them and it makes me wonder if they did get nipped by frost about a week ago.

The zinnias and marigolds planted between the tomato plants are doing well.  I will need to water everything this morning.  They are talking possibilities of rain for several days this week so I sure hope we get some of it.  We are just outside of the drought area but are very dry.

  2. it is so strange for you all to be so much warmer than us I know you aren't usually. Here it has been cooler and wetter than normal but although we are to get a lot of rain somehow it missed us totally yesterday we were to get more in the night and didn't but still should get some today and next 2 - we will see what we end with. Enough of a chance I won't go walking today.
    love your stars

  5. We are supposed to have rain off and on for the next 5-6 days (with lots of overcast skies, too) The plants and lawns will enjoy the moisture.

My lavender is budding up (finally) and my one peony has bloomed..off white with a light pink tinged center...I miss my big garden where we used to live...

Hot hot hot here today and humid, too. We are in this heat wave until at least Wednesday...hoping to get some good sewing and quilting in...

  7. This is indeed is one of my favorites, enjoying every piece of fabric you’ve used in this one. I see the darker tones have made a big X, that was not visible to me till this morning. Been fun to see so many different patterns emerge .

  9. It's always so interesting how secondary patterns emerge. The diagonal lines in this are very strong in my eye. And I love them. It's like lattice.

I admire you for putting together all those HSTs. I just love them in quilts, but really despise making them. But I am contemplating making some later today.

  11. I really like this quilt too. It is one of those that invites the eye to keep looking. We went to a botanical garden today. Lots in bloom or buds. Lilac heaven. The best treat was a little patch of golden Lady's Slipper, an orchid that grows in the wild here, and is quite rare and very pretty. Love to see your garden pictures.

  12. Wanda I am so very behind with reading blog posts and just catching up for a few hours, the quilt you have here is stunning, so cheery and full of colour and the block itself is a good size, I can see another quilt coming on to use up my KFC scraps.

  13. Oh, it's SOOOO dry. We had a spruce taken down and a maple planted so we're watering, too. Plus the vegetables. I have a row of peonies next to the house that haven't bloomed AT ALL because they're so dry. (I can't water heavily in that spot or I'll get water in the basement.).....Meanwhile -- I can envision a skinny border around that bottom quadrant only, and calling it "breakout star."

  14. I hope you can get that other A/C unit in soon. The star top is looking great!

  15. I hope you don't have the humidity that we have in IL. 89 with high humidity would be absolutely brutal with only one AC. I wouldn't be able to move!
