35 blocks and final layout?..............

I made the last block for the Hattie's Choice quilt.  I did move a couple blocks at the bottom to fit in the new block ( 2 in, 2 up from bottom right corner).  I'm pretty sure this is the final layout but I decided to wait until this morning to be sure.  Seeing it in both artificial light last night and natural light today helps to make the decision.

I decided to rake the layer of leaves from the flower beds in the back yard so the early plants can see some sunshine and start growing.  It was a thin layer of leaves but they were meshed together like a blanket from having all of the heavy snow on top of them for over 2 months.  Now we have some rain coming this week.

  1. This will be a gorgeous quilt. And it's a great example of using your color wash lessons with other quilt blocks.

  3. The top looks wonderful! I was outside last evening and noticed the same thing - a layer of leaves all over the center flower bed even though I had cleaned it out real good last fall. I can see there is a lot of clean up I need to do and I want to dig up my ornamental grass, divide and transplant it. That is going to be a big job. I will have to pace myself on that one!

  4. I still have a flower bed or two here to clear out and the plants are popping through so I might leave it as mulch. Your quilt design looks good with the color to me laid out as it is now

  5. Although it should be 60 today here, I think it is too early to take off all the mulch. I do not want the ground to heave a lot.

Nothing moving in our gardens here as yet...still pretty cold--I am taking time to really rest up and recuperate from that 2nd covid shot reaction...

  10. Very very pretty! I think you've found the right balance. Our snow is down to baby piles from the street and another 60 degree day should do it. There are a few crocuses up in the neighborhood. I can't grow them because our very active squirrel population loves them!
