I played with some different arrangements of the Crossed Canoe blocks trying to figure out how I will set them. These are set with 4 light points coming together and 4 dark points coming together.
In this layout all blocks are rotated the same direction.
I put all 29 blocks up on the design wall in random color order but all rotated the same direction.
Then I grouped them loosely by color. I need to make a lot more blocks so I'm trying to come up with ideas for color combinations in the next blocks. I'm also considering another block to alternate them with.
This is the snow from 3 snowstorms in January. My snow plow guy just pushes it all to this side of the driveway. Just look at that sunshine and blue sky. We were only around 32 degrees but it felt great outside.
I really like your canoe blocks but something seems to be missing, to bring them together. As you say another alternate or sashing - what about off-setting them, but that would mean a half block at the end of each row. As always, I know you'll come up with a good solution in the end. I'm happy to say we've not had any snow yet but plenty around Yorkshire and other counties - although rain has been a problem for some people and when that snow melts.... Stay safe, stay warm, stay home :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful selection of canoe blocks--it will be quite a challenge to decide how to set them up...
ReplyDeletestay warm and safe, hugs, Julierose
that is a lot of snow and will take awhile to melt -
ReplyDeleteYour Crossed Canoe blocks look so fun to design with. Top photo I can see a large X running from corner to corner of top. Next one I see twisting ribbons running diagonal . Last two just plain fun.
ReplyDeleteWe had a warmer temp (52) than Jacksonville, FL. (47) yesterday and it's already warmer this morning than it was yesterday. Springtime in the Rockies is way too early. I really envy your snow.

All the blocks are lovely but I'm really partial to that first layout, light to light and dark to dark. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI expected to like a fully mixed layout...but nope, the first one is my favorite for now.
ReplyDeleteThe colors of the blocks are so exciting. Looks pretty much the same around here, but no blue skies and a little less snow.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are pretty. You will figure out an arrangement. You received a lot more snow than what fell here. We might have gotten 4" total.
ReplyDeleteI like the top two best.
ReplyDeleteThese Crossed Canoes of yours are making me want to make one! But I need to finish something before I can start anything else.

Those look so nice....so many choices for placement too. That’s a LOT of snow.
ReplyDeleteWow, you got lots of snow! Glad we don't get that much here. We had to get our long driveway cleared once and we'll never do it again. It's gravel and the guy destroyed it. We learned an important lesson to park the cars at the end of the driveway. 😆
