I feel so special! I got Royal Mail! My friend Lesley from the UK sent me this Christmas card on the 12/14 and I got it 2 days ago. She has sent me many postcards from her travels around the UK too. I visited my daughter's family when they lived over there so I know a little bit about the country but Lesley has filled me in on so much more of the history.
Back to playing with blocks. I decided to try an on point setting because I have never used that with a 16 patch before. This is 46 blocks and I will need 13 more blocks to add 2 more rows onto the side to make it into a good proportion. I will be digging through my Philip Jacobs fabrics first and then to the newer Kaffe fabric.
This was my TV sewing last night. There are 8 in each stack and they will go into a quilt for sharing in the future. It might be a friendship star quilt.
I definitely like the on point setting. These blocks are so bright and cheery- perfect for right now.

I have gotten Royal Mail a few times. The Royal Mail postage label makes me smile. I love getting mail from the UK just for that reason.
ReplyDeleteI do like the on-point setting. Are you still planning to put some solid blocks in with it?
Great idea to do the on point setting!
ReplyDeleteI love the on-point setting for your 16-patch blocks! It adds a wonderful energy to the quilt.
ReplyDeleteOn point settings are always interesting--truthfully, I like the head on one.
ReplyDeleteBut it's pretty either way...hugs, Julierose
Royal Mail is fun to get - it is always interesting to get mail from overseas as it is
ReplyDeleteNo matter what the setting, I sure do like the colors of your 16 patch blocks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card! Funny how that made it across the ocean in fewer days than some of the items I mailed here about the same time that are just now being delivered within the continental US. It was quite the year for the postal systems! I really like the on point setting for your 16 patch blocks.
ReplyDeleteThat Kaffe 16 patch is fabulous on point! I look forward to seeing where you take it.
ReplyDeleteI think the on point setting is a winner! I'm not familiar with Philip Jacobs but I will enjoy seeing how this turns out.
ReplyDeleteWOW ! ! ! ON POINT makes such a gorgeous difference Wanda. I so enjoy your surprises. I too enjoy the company of a t.v. program when sewing. It's always a Hallmark movie too. I've seen most of them at least twice now. (*._,*)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card from the U.K. And knowing Leslie is one of your faithful followers, sharing her card with us, makes me feel like she's "in our loop" . Knowing people from the U.K. she might wonder what that means (*._.*)

Yay for Royal Mail! Must have arrived by boat! lol. The on point setting is really a great idea.
ReplyDeleteMakes me happy to know other people enjoyed seeing the card - Yorkshire is on the east side of England and is our largest County. Also it's good to know I'm 'in the loop' (*._.*) haha
ReplyDeleteMy UK friend and I mailed cards to each other on the same day (accidentally) and then we received them weeks later on the same day! Meanwhile a local friend mailed one to me on Dec 20 and it just arrived Thursday.
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me! If I ever catch up on my projects, I would like to make a 16 patch quilt. I've never seen one on point and the more I look at yours, the more I like it. One question, how do you get such a selection of fabrics? Do you purchase yardage or fat quarters?
ReplyDeleteI was born in Yorkshire, grew up in Lancashire and live in Kent. Look for the Queen's head on our stamps. She - the Queen - has had the vaccine but my husband beat her to it!! I await my turn.
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks and I'm curious to see how the quilt turns out - setting triangles??
I really like the on point setting for the on point setting of the 16 patch. I always say if you put it on point it will add movement and interest. I really like your new blocks with all the dots.
ReplyDeleteYou ARE special. I really like the on point setting too for the 16 patch.
ReplyDeleteI just got a Christmas card that was postmarked Dec. 17 Cleveland Ohio. I received it January 8th. I am a 45 minute drive from Cleveland. Worst than that is all my utility bills were late. I received my water/trash bill from the city the day it was due. Usually I get it two weeks before the payment is due.
ReplyDeleteI really like the on-point 16 patch blocks.
Whoa - your Christmas card takes me back a way!! The old steam trains we had in England and I see your friend hails from Yorkshire, just a short distance from Lancashire where we lived. Superb counties for enjoying Winter weather, especially as children. Love the setting on point here Wanda, hope you keep it this way.
