I'm glad I checked the box with the larger yardage pieces of batiks and found this perfect piece for backing. I also used it for the binding.
I will post my monthly recap tomorrow. Today I will probably work on my Kaffe Trip Around the World quilt.
A huge snowstorm was predicted for our area but we were near the southern edge of the storm and got a much slower start to the snowfall than Chicago and its close suburbs. I measured 4" on my porch this morning. We were originally in the 5" - 8" prediction area.

Lovely finish and that backing is just perfect!!
Pleased to hear you didn't get a lot of snow--we are awaiting our predicted 6"-8" tomorrow through Tuesday. All stocked up here..

I would have bought an extra few yards of that batik fabric too. I like the black over color... reminds me of stained glass. We had the 'weatherman hype' about the amount of snow we were supposed to get here... 'Biggest so far this year' turned out to be all talk. Not even a true dusting/trace!!!! Talking again about some today/tomorrow?
My brother in Maryland is expecting to get a ton for snow from this storm as it leaves your area, glad you didn't get the brunt of it. I love the quilt and the backing goes perfectly with it.
I started a 16 patch with the strips I cut for the Colorwash 360 quilt, but looking at your blocks, I see that I should rethink some of the combinations and include more lighter values to create some glow. I didn't get much past pairing the strips as other projects muscled their way in. We are supposed to escape the brunt of the storm, unless, of course, it decides to alter it's path. Very cold though.

Absolutely gorgeous!
That's so colorful and makes my eyes just want to stare at it. I love it.
This Jewel tone batik is well-named! Good point about hand stitching the binding. I don't work much with batiks and hadn't thought that it might be a little harder.
Definitely a perfect backing/binding fabric for your beautiful quilt!
We are in the midst of snowing now but very light currently. I think our early prediction was 5-8" too--it may be heavier later. We haven't had much this year so making split pea soup later (hubby has been asking for it) and right now just enjoying watching out my sewing room window.
Hi, I have been following your blog for ages and just wanted to say that you always inspire and amaze me. I am loving your 16 patch quilts, and your recent crossed canoe quilt made me swoon! I have a big stash of batiks and am thinking I need to get busy! Thank you for the colorful inspiration!
What a bright and beautiful Sunday post. Great photos as the jewel tone colors came through deep and rich.
IL. is getting more snow than we are here in the mountains... Unbelievable 'open winter' here.

Such gorgeous jewel tones on a gray, cold day here. Just a beautiful quilt.
That 16 patch is so pretty! The backing is beautiful! It has snowed here all day, but it so far has been very fine and we have not gotten much accumulation at all.
Congratulations on another beautiful finish, Wanda!!
It's lovely! So bright for a snowy day. We got about 5 inches yesterday and I'm already anxious for it to melt.
