I sorted through the 2.5" Kaffe collective strip box and came up with 10 more combinations. The yellow greens made it into this group. Now I have 24 sets sewn, 8 to go for a 56" x 72" quilt.
I put my little ceramic Christmas tree on a table in my living room. It is a little light therapy in an otherwise mostly dark room.
I turned on the closest lamp to get another photo of it. My mother painted it back in the late 50s or early 60s. I think she gave it to me when they were moving up to Wisconsin in 1974. It is 11" tall. I need to get up on a step stool and get the box of the rest of the Christmas items down today.

I love that you have such a delightful memento from your Mother, that you can bring out each Christmas. My Mum passed when I was 10 and I have 2 of her nighties that she made and wore. They stay safe in an old suitcase and I always feel she is around me, knowing I have them nearby. Be careful on the step stool - I always make sure my feet are steady when using mine - don't want to end up in the hospital :)
That is such a cute little tabletop tree! I won't be pulling out the rest of my Christmas stuff this year--just not in the mood...with no one coming over and all. I look so forward to Christmas so we can have that one day in everyone's busy lives to get together...bummer!!
Hoping next year we will be able to do that again....
I like how your KF strips are coming out...
I've decided that I'm going to cut my jelly roll, humongous piece in two--and go from there...
Take care and stay safe,
hugs on a very cold morning Julierose
I have (or maybe had) one of those trees from my MIL. That's about all I will be getting out this year.
What a lovely memento Wanda. This tree design is basically the same as it was when I began teaching ceramics in the late 70's. The only difference is that the base was changed to a round one. If ever you need to replace a burned out bulb, I have lots of replacements. The trees came in all different sizes, and believe me, when I say it was no fun pouring the 18" size. lol
my parents had one of those trees, one of my sisters gave it them, after they died it went back to her and she puts it out every year.
Ah, it is truly time to gather fond memories. I'll be putting out a small music box of Silent Night that my mother put together for our family shortly before she died so many years ago. Listening it brings back other Christmas memories growing up. Love your tree, Wanda. Marnie
I’m ashamed to say how little I have left of family (and my own) Christmas decorations……two moves after ‘the husband’s” retirement led to excessive purging. Fun to see yours…thanks for sharing….
Our ceramic tree was gifted to us when we married by an elderly neighbor who had known me since I was a baby. Dicie was her name. Every year the pale green tree appears somewhere in our Christmas. Your dark green one has a pretty base.
We have a similar tree done by MIL. Except ours has one bulb inside and little colored plastic birds to put in the holes. I probably should think about making the excursion to the attic and haul our things down. Thankfully no step ladder or stool is needed. And I *really* need to think about what goes back up there - so much not used for a long time now.
That is a cute tree. Love all those fabrics!
I have never before seen a ceramic tree! Nice size and it does look so cheery all lit up.
I have a sightly larger tree I bought as a kit and painted up when the kids were young, so that puts it in the late 80s. I still get it out occasionally. It too has the single light bulb in the base. I'm actually decorating more this year to keep my spirits up. We have gone to my daughter's the last two years and there was no point in doing much then. I really need a little Christmas!
I have a couple of those I bought a while back. I still enjoy them every year. I need to start getting our Christmas out!
