The Marcia Derse baby quilt is finished. The blues are from lines dating back several years. The white and black are from her line the Opposites (there was a positive and negative of each print). It ended up 35" x 47".
The backing and binding fabric is another from her Opposites line. Binding is all by machine.
After I finished this one I did a load of laundry and went grocery shopping.
And then I tackled the binding on the big plaid zig zag quilt. It took over an hour even doing it all by machine.
I wanted to use more of the plaid or stripe fabric for the binding and then I decided it would be a pain to cut the plaid straight so I went with a stripe. It was the only stripe I had enough of.
I used Martha Negley's Tree Rings fabric for the back. I thought the coloring was perfect. This one ended up 69" x 88.5".
It's time for the weekly update on the waxed Amaryllis. It has really grown a lot this past week and the bud is starting to open up. I wonder what color it will be.

Always a welcome little surprise with that type of amaryllis...it really has grown quickly...
Lovely work on both quilts...love the Negley fabric...

Both zig zag quilts are wonderful. Love the binding on the plaid one. Finished my zig zag one last night, now to find a binding.
Love the plaids. It reminds me that I need to keep collecting plaids from the resale shop to make my planned quilt.
I love the plaids - I have never started a collection of them and I don't know why as I always like them when I see them.
Last year I planted my amaryllis bulbs in the garden in early spring and left them there until early October when I planted them in pots - I had no idea if I would have flowers for Christmas - it looks like I will not - only one is sending up a stem so far and it is tiny
Love the baby quilt! The black & white fabrics are perfect with the blues! I have lots 7 lots of the b&W. Hmmmm. I see a new 2021 project!
I’ve always loved this pattern…..but of course I rarely piece so haven’t thought about it in years…..your pieces are just so darn perfect!
That baby quilt is great - not too sweet like so many are! That amaryllis is growing fast. Too bad I haven't been anywhere to look for them, now that we don't have indoor cats, one might have a chance to keep its bloom if it made it that far!
I went grocery shopping this morning - hopefully for the last time this year (until mid to late January if I got it right). Love both of your finishes! I've never had an amaryllis - maybe one is in my future.
I love streak of lightning sets. These quilts are so pleasing!
I LOVE Marcia Derse fabric....LOVE Great job!
ZigZag blue for baby, Multi color for you. I love these two zig-zags, you designed with your special fabrics . It made me feel good to see you finished bindings on your sewing machine. Your work is always meticulous, by hand or machine.
When I first looked at Amaryllis photo for a quick second, I thought the poinsettia blossoms was your amaryllis. I looked up waxed Amayills on Google and was surprised to see they offered so many different ones. Like "Quiltdivajulie" mentioned she might try one... I jJust might next year too. Especially the waxed one that needs no care. You sure give us inspiration, whether it's quilting or your plants.

Both quilts turned out fabulous! You got those done fast! The amaryllis is growing so fast. I enjoy the weekly updates!
I love the baby quilt! The Blue is such a fun color for that one.
I've enjoyed seeing your zig zag quilts progress and now they are finished. The blue and white is my special favorite. Love it!
Merry Christmas.
I give amaryllis bulbs to neighbors and friends as Christmas gifts. I needed to get a couple more so I made a return trip to Stein's (Kenosha). Their bulb kits were 40% off -- but one had spouted so much that it had popped the top of the cardboard box! I didn't get that one. One person saves the bulbs each year and plants them in her garden and has success getting them to regrow. My experience with forced bulbs is that they aren't good at a second act.
Merry Christmas, Wanda. Stay safe and happy in the new year. Always enjoy reading your blog and seeing your beautiful work! Take care.
