Started quilting the next one..............

This quilt was started at least 15 years ago, a paper pieced pattern by Karen K Stone called Yardbirds Circling the Cat.  The border finally got added last year in June.  I thread basted it yesterday and started quilting it last night.  Hopefully I will get right at it this morning and get the quilting done.

Yesterday I got a beautiful hand made Christmas card from Linda.  (Click here to see her cards in progress) She mailed it on December 15 and I got it on December 29th.  I wonder what route it took???  Now I can't complain about the package I mailed to my granddaughter in another state on the 21st and it got there on the 24th.  Some things seemed to move along in the system just fine and others got stuck somewhere.  I'm just happy that I got the card, very happy to add it the ones from previous years.

Snow started to fall late yesterday afternoon.  It had turned to freezing rain before I went to bed.  The temperature is supposed to keep rising to at least 36 so I hope the icy stuff will melt.  AAA guy came and started my van yesterday so I took it for a ride.  I need to do that again soon to keep the battery charged up but I won't drive on slick streets.

  1. Can't you let it sit in the "driveway" and just let it run to charge the battery without having to drive it on icy streets etc. ?

  3. Hi Wanda,
It's perfectly yucky out today, glad you got your drive in yesterday!
I love the "Cats" quilt - the hot oranges are so perfectly set off by the aqua fabrics, really makes it all pop!
Thanks for another year of Exuberant Color! Happy new year!

  4. Yes the mail has been quite dodgy lately. In my town, the mail goes to a bigger city for sorting and is then returned. So all of our water bills are stuck there because they don't have enough staff to process the mail due to COVID related staffing shortages.

  5. We got a battery tender for my mom's van at Costco and it has done the job for us. I love the name of that quilt. Have fun with the quilting of it. The mail is very interesting these days.

  6. I was going to mention a battery maintainer as well. It's so easy to let days slip by without starting the car, it might be money well spent to know it will start.

Yeah, mail and package delivery is quite random. My car registration sent in September never got to its destination, cards and advertising papers can take 2-3 weeks, yet my heath insurance payment and an Accuquilt order arrived in 2 days, last week. I'm not going to lay blame on the workers though, they've been beset on several sides - huge increase in on-line orders, workers out sick, political crap cutting USPS services, etc. At one time we had an "in town" mail slot in the post office, years ago they took it out and all mail goes to Des Moines to get sorted. I'm not sure how that was an improvement.

  8. That quilt is so pretty! That card is so beautiful. I am glad they got your van started. Yes, you will have to go for a drive to keep it charged. Letting it idle doesn't charge the battery.

Oh the mail; what a mess. I have been receiving bills the day they are due so I am getting hit with late fees. I still have some headphones that I am waiting for them to show up. I ordered them two weeks ago. I know they have been hit by covid and everyone shopping online. My brother was happy though that the flannel quilt I made for his wife out of her childhood comforter did finally show up at their house in California; it took 11 days.

  9. Thanks for spotlighting the card! Every year I think I will run out of ideas. Lots of work painting over 100 of them, but people love them. If people love your work, it is like have a lot of frosting on a cake. The quilt looks terrific so far.
