I got the long seams sewn last night but it was too late to turn on an iron and press it by the time I finished.
I baked English Toffee bars yesterday. I posted the recipe 3 years ago on this blog.
They are thin, buttery and crunchy. I didn't have any nuts in the house so they are all just plain chocolate this year. I don't like nuts in my sweets so I only add them for some of the people I give them to.
I've missed reading blog posts over about one week so I'll comment on all here! Newest post first - the English Toffee bars look delicious and I'm another one who doesn't like nuts in sweets/desserts.Your cookies should make folks happy when you gift them, nothing like home baked cookiesI have never seen the beautiful champagne coloured cactus in any of the garden centres here, usually only pink and red or coral. So good to see the shot of the Amaryllis, I find the fact that they're grown in the wax container amazing.Needless to say I always look forward to seeing your quilts, I like the loose meander keeping the focus on the fabrics and not having a stiff quilt!
You have been keeping busy! Those toffee bars look so good! I haven't started baking for Xmas yet. I will bake pies closer to Christmas, but since there aren't big family gatherings anymore since my parents died I just don't make many cookies anymore.
The quilt and the toffee look delicious! I do love nuts in things, especially if they are chopped fine.
ReplyDeleteLove those toffee bars--so yummy...nice that you got all your quilt blocks together...that's a big job...hugs from a cold Winter landscape Julierose
ReplyDeleteUmmm - toffee bars. I love them but my crowns do not so I try hard to stay away (not always successful though). Enjoy your preparations!
