All was well until..............

The 4th live broadcast went well and I usually watch part of the recording to check the quality of the video and audio.  I decided I needed to straighten the screen and when I moved it the whole monitor screen turned white and there was no sound.  I thought I would try turning it off and then back on and that would fix it.  Now I can hear it running but the screen is black...........  It's lucky that I own more than one laptop so I can hopefully just switch to another and be up and running again.  I just hope I can recover a few things off the hard drive or get the screen issue fixed.

Yikes! I hope you can resolve the problem.

Bleh. How could just moving it a little do all that? It is great that you have a backup since you’re in the middle of your class, and great it happened in a way that gives you a week to figure it out.

I hate it when a laptop or other gives you trouble and it seems like that can happen quickly and with no warning

I suspect you will find a way to fix it - through your own researching or your network of connections with others. GOOD LUCK!!!

Technology issues can be so annoying and always seem to happen at the most inopportune time. Hopefully your daughter, Vicki, may have some suggestions.

You can hook up a monitor to your laptop and see things that way. But I don't know if you have a 'spare' monitor. Your camera may still work.
Just trying to help. I'm sure a geeky young one will sort it all out for you.

I don't know if this might help, but my screen went black - turned out it was by accidentally pressing the contrast button and it contrasted too dark! I have a keyboard that lights up and I was trying to turn that on in the dark - the button is next to the contrast button. Try the individual brightness buttons in case that was the problem - it won't hurt to test it. Fingers crossed. And I am a complete technophobe, so was lucky! LOL!

You definitely won't lose anything from your hard drive - worst case scenario is that you take it out and put it into an external case. I like the comment about the contrast button - could be a go as it's unusual to get a white screen, it's normally black. Good luck, you have to intensely dislike computers some days.

Just read your post again and realised that your screen IS black, and no sound (that one's different). I'd still try the contrast, you never know. If not that, hopefully it's just something come loose.
