The zipper quilt top is finally sewn together and I love it! It is 60" x 72". Here is where the inspiration quilt and cutting directions are found. Lynn calls hers "Zip".
I chose the backing fabrics too. The large leaf print will be full width and the other 2 fabrics are from my "long strips" box, leftovers from trimming other backings.
I was going to piece another backing yesterday but instead I spent 3 hours sorting a blanket box full of scraps into "I want" and "I don't want" and also into 2 size groups. The box is now half empty.
Love you zipper top. Very bright and cheery.
ReplyDeleteThe top is so saturated and graphic- a real happy quilt. Looks terrific all together.
ReplyDeleteThe zippers are a fun looking diversion... even doing little to nothing... I am making a mess. Now to Quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteZipper top looks great. Did you use the same cutting instructions as Lynn? I imagined 2 print outer strips and then the 2 inner strips (print and solid) sewn together then cut into squares. I thought that was a quicker way of making the squares.
ReplyDeleteNice sunny day here today and just finished an hour of 'cutting back' in the garden. I've had some gutter work done, so while clearing up decided was a good time to do it, before the Clematis/Fuchsia started putting out new buds :)
I love your extensive fabric stash! One morning would you explain how you chose fabrics to buy, where you shop, and how much you purchase of each cut? Your color sense is awesome. I enjoy starting my day with your blog and inspiration, thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove what you are doing with this one. as one of your commenters say you sure have a stash to use
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and lively quilt! It should make a dent in the fabric collection, but somehow there always seem to be yet more scraps!
ReplyDelete"Zippity Doo Dah, Zippity Ay, my oh my what a wonderful quilt . Does anyone else remember Disneys, "Song if the South". (^._,^). Your zipper quilt reflects that and makes me think of that fun happy song.

Very cool zipper quilt, Wanda !
ReplyDeleteI love it--your fabrics are very interesting and together it is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt!
ReplyDeleteThe top turned out fabulous! I love the mix of colors. You are getting a lot done! I have had the slows all week and today it came to a head with a vicious cough. I stayed home today from work and I am just so tired I couldn't get myself to do anything. I think I picked up a bug from the company meeting on Monday. A guy across the table from me was sniffing his noise and coughing without covering his mouth.
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing!! An interesting pattern and good for using up strips.
ReplyDeleteYour zipper top is outstanding.......you have such a good range of fabrics. Sharing her blog is one of the best things you've done on YOURS !
