My 2 friends came over to sew yesterday so I sewed on my basement studio project. This is just loose pieces on the design wall, no rows sewn together. This is fabrics 1 (rust leaves) through 5. I have 8 fabrics chosen and I'll decide after I piece another zillion 9 patches whether I will stop at fabric 7 or 8.
Our snowy/icy/rainy/frigid weekend started about 4 yesterday afternoon with the snow. It is supposed to warm up this morning and rain and then the big deep freeze later this afternoon. I hope we don't get the predicted ice before the rain.

Those blocks looked very interesting so I zoomed in to see how you'd done it. The making of it looks easy enough but I guess the hardest part is getting the right colours in order, before sewing. Is there a name for this design? Not that I'm going to do it but I love seeing your 'work-in-progress' :)
Amazing work! I love how such simple blocks set diagonally make such a statement...lovely colors hugs, Julierose
I like this!! what size are those 9 patch blocks in it - you really have to look closely to see the different colors - I had to click to enlarge of course
I love your fabric choices for your blooming nine patch. You have the best color sense! I can't wait to see it as it progresses.
This looking good! Did you share your original choices for the fabrics you are using? I was thinking of doing one, but really don't need a large quilt project. But I feel a nudge.
I've been looking at this pattern, or a variation for some time. I'll watch your progress and any hints you have.
I like the transition between the fabrics using 9 patches, especially the 2 fabrics on the far right.
What a gorgeous photo to start my Saturday. This is a beautiful array of fabrics , especially how you have designed them.

I love how this is progressing, do you have an anticipated finished size?
I think the original design is by Blanche Young, and dates back to the 1990s. There's a book by Blanche and her daughter, called Tradition with a Twist, which has a quilt like this on the cover. Blanche lived in the Inland Empire area of California, and passed away in 2016 at the age of 96. She published quilting books herself, and then joined C & T.
This looks realy nice
How I wish I were one of those friends sewing with you in your studio today! The snow just began here in New England, so it is going to be a good night to stay inside and stitch. Your work continues to inspire me every day! Wish we were still neighbors.
So pretty! Love how it blends. Thank you Wanda. :D
Hi Wanda !
It's beautiful !!! Many of your quilts are my inspiration.
Greetings from Poland :)
P.S. Unfortunately, there is no snow here :(
So fun to watch this evolve. You have a great sense of color and texture.
