Binding finished...........

I hand stitched the binding for 3 1/2 hours last night and finished it at 10:10.  It was too late to hang it on the design wall for its portrait.

I do minimal decorating for Christmas since the family party isn't at my house any more.  I hang a few ornaments from lamps or knobs.

This is my tree on a table runner I made last year.

My cactus in a cup has its second bloom.  The third bud dried up and fell off.

This is the mama plant that the piece in a cup is from and it is blooming too.  There are a few other cacti with one or two blooms on them.

  1. Congratulations on getting the African quilt done! It looks fabulous and I can't wait to see the glamor shot.

On the local news the other day they did a story about a fellow who had a Christmas cactus plant that was 71 years old! He remembers when his mother got is when he was 5. After she died he took it home and now cares for it. It was pink and full of flowers. Who knew one could live that long!

  2. what do you have your cactus in the cup in - water and what? I can't tell from the photo. I have my pieces that fell off the mother plant laying in dirt - it is the kind with the trailing roots so I hope they will root into the soil I have been keeping it damp but not wet. I got my wall hanging binding finished last night after I had already scheduled my post

  3. My cacti (fuchsia, champaign, white and red) have all bloomed. They started around Thanksgiving. I saw on TV (I know I shouldn't believe everything I see on TV) that there is such a thing as Thanksgiving Cacti. If that's the case, then all of mine are definitely Thanksgiving plants! They were loaded with flowers. Quite pretty.

  4. Happy you finished your African quilt. I too am anxious to see it up on your design wall. All folded so neatly, it's like one of your cactus buds ready to full out blossom. Your Christmas decor is perfect... I was only going to put out a few things, but once I got into my decorations I couldn't stop. (^._.^)

  7. I'm also curious about the cactus in the cup. Is that how you restart another plant?
