Decisions made............

I decided that I would separate the brighter blocks from the pastel ones and then added the scenery fabric with the bright blocks.  I'll probably use the pansy fabric for the back.  It was on the right side in the photo yesterday.  This one will end up about 40" x 56" and will be a sharing quilt, probably for a cancer patient.

The pastel blocks will be a baby quilt with this green diagonal plaid for the back.  I think I might have enough of it to put a small border on the top since it is only going to be 32" square.  There were 2 blocks left over which will go into my orphan block box.

I have spent parts of 3 days cutting the white and black batik fabrics into strips the right size to run through my die cutter with the half hexagon die.  There are 44 fabrics so far.  I will only add more if I need to.  I used 208 half hexagons in my last 2 quilts and they came out 58" x 80".

  1. I wasn't sure about your dark square blocks in the beginning, but now I see them mixed in with the scenery fabric it all makes sense and a lovely finish. Looking forward to seeing what you create with those B&W strips.
We had a nice weekend away visiting the Anderton canal boat lift on Saturday and then a canal boat & steam train ride on Sunday. Late up today as needed some missed sleep :)

  2. Love the landscape in between - makes a super finish. :D Little one is sweet - wouldn't mind a big one in those colours! LOL xx

  3. I love how you've added the scenery fabric to your green and pink blocks. It's a gorgeous combination. The baby quilt is so soft and soothing in those pastel fabrics, too. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the black and white batiks become!

  4. I finally ran the previously cut low volume strips through my half hex die this past weekend. Sewing won't start anytime soon, but the pieces are ready and waiting when the design wall is empty. Your pinks and greens are SO pretty on this windy, rainy (stormy) Monday morning.

  6. Your eye for designing fabrics together is awesome. Yesterday seeing your array of pinks and greens for the large blocks, the scene fabric was the last one I thought you'd use. Seeing it today it's the perfect one ! Your daily blog is always such fun and full of surprises.

As always your gifting to a cancer patient with one of your quilts is a true blessing for those who need a gift of love.

  7. Well - that scenery print was the last one I thought would work with those blocks - but pulling out the pastel blocks makes it the perfect choice for those remaining - ;))

  8. I too loved watching the progression of this quilt. The scenic fabric is ingenious. In the beginning I wasn’t drawn in with the green/pink pallette that you were using. But with watching your blog for quilt a while, I had no doubts that this would end up being another spectacular quilt. May even be one of my favorites.
