Miscellany..........

This is the die that I was trying out to figure out where the error is.  It is the very first die I bought 10 years ago when I bought my Accuquilt Studio die cutter.  I made a flannel quilt with this die about 5 or 6 years ago and I thought there might be an error in the size of one of the pieces.  When I made this block about a week ago I thought it was the triangle (too small) but now I think it might be the square corners (too big).  I'll have to do another block to check it again.  These are African fabrics and the strip piecing is left over from another quilt so I just put it up on the design wall with the star.

This is an old fabric from the late 1980s or early 1990s.  I have a little over 4 yards and was thinking about using it for a backing.  There isn't any company name on the selvage but I was thinking it was a Hoffman print.  I guess I'll never know.
One of my art quilters shares his Canna and Elephant Ear bulbs with me.  I have 4 of them in pots and these are the largest ones.  They are right at the end of the row of tomato plants along my driveway.

It has been beautiful weather for a few days but the humidity and rain is supposed to roll in today and stick around tomorrow.  My roof is scheduled to be done on Tuesday so I hope the rain is done by then.

  1. Interesting, some of my older dies don't cut cleanly and/or are not that precise either. I have two like that that I replaced...for what they cost they should be perfect, I think!! ;000
Neat plants...I've never grown those...hugs, Julierose

  2. Love your African fabrics and I can't see any error in your star either. Before I read anything about the 4 yd. piece, first glance I thought it was one of your new designs . (^._.^). And the leaves on your canna and elephant ear are so huge . They must love your IL. heat and humidity. Really enjoyed your post today.

  4. Such an unusual fabric second photo down, perfect backing to complement the fabrics used on the front.
