Binding time............

I decided I needed a day of rest so I sewed the binding onto the x and + quilt and have started the slow hand stitching.

When I went out to get the newspapers early in the morning I saw the 2 Monarch caterpillars munching away on the remains of the milkweed plant nearest to the house.  The bottom one is on the remaining center stem/vein of a leaf that is totally eaten.

  1. I googled milkweed/monarch - seems like they are made for each other :) Good to know you do take a 'rest' when your body is telling you to. I find hand stitching the 2nd edge of a quilt quite relaxing. Love the colours on your X & + quilt :)

  2. I like the binding you put on the X quilt. Stitching on binding is still work though. I stitched the binding on that double wedding ring quilt and it tired me out, but of course I wasn't feeling good to begin with! LOL!!!

That is so cool that you were able to take a picture of the caterpillars. Do they hibernate all winter and then breakout of their cocoons in the spring as butterflies?

  3. Good to hear you took a day to catch your breath... before beginning another week. You had quite a busy week last. I would have liked to do just that also, but it didn't work out, I worked most of the day getting ready for today.

  4. That binding IS perfect for your X & + quilt! I'm happy to see those caterpillars...managed to save the milkweed here, but it never got very large. The monarchs have been loving the Joe Pye weed flowers. Maybe next year I'll have some caterpillars.
