I'm still doing lots of cutting for my solids and prints series of quilts and I decided I will continue sewing the zipper blocks as I cut and just save some of the others for my fall TV watching projects. There are 13 new blocks added since I showed them last. I will now repeat each of the solids with a different print for the next group of blocks.
The heat continues here and it is so draining. I have little energy in this weather and the heat is going to continue until Saturday. One piece of good news, my insurance company has approved the payment for replacing 3 crank out roof windows (skylights) because my old ones were damaged by hail and the style is obsolete (1987). Now I have to wait for paperwork to arrive in the mail, sign it and mail to the insurance company and then the pile of shingles in the driveway can go on the roof.
Good news about the roof/windows. I was hoping everything would get sorted for how you wanted. You'll have to share pics of the roof (if you want to of course) so I can get a better understanding of how the windows look. Does 'crank' mean metal? Or maybe it's a winding action?
ReplyDeleteOur 'heatwave' may have come and gone. It wasn't too hot yesterday and it's cloudy today so I'm happy with that. Hope you're energy perks up today and you manage some sewing/gardening/cleaning/baking - you know, those things you do on a daily basis haha - take care and don't over do it :)
And we wonder why insurance is so expensive... EVERY little thing has to be inspected, reivewed, re-reviewed and then eventually approved. Glad to hear you will get to spend the winter warm and dry. We have the same weather here... HOT and STEAMY.
ReplyDeleteThe zipper blocks look good and remind me of the quilt tops I have been working on. I still have a few pieces left from making those 5 tops. I guess I will set them aside until I figure out what to do with them.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about the heat. It was all I could do to make myself mow last night.
That is great news about your windows! Let's hope they can get the roof done soon.
glad your insurance company approved that now I wonder if they have a newer version that will fit in the same spots without having to order them? I hope this can all be taken care of for you soon. We have not had higher heat and humidity than normal for this time of year other than the fact that it seemed to arrive rather suddenly after having a longer than normal cooler & wetter spring.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt . . . it's exciting; the colors just shout out happy vibes :) You have a marvelous talent for mixing colors. You are so brave and your combos always work, Bravo!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting.
Connie :)
Excellent news regarding the roof project! I too have been trying hard to use my solids in combination with prints - fun to watch your zipper block count increase.
ReplyDeleteZippers are fascinating to look at, I see a different design every time I look. Diagonal, then vertical movement comes into focus.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all, on your roof and windows. My grandson is on his way to Bethesda, MD. (A 2 year intern at NHI) and is staying with my sister tonight, he'll get a feeling of what heat and humidity is ! Especially your humidity.

This is going to be a happy quilt! I love what's happening here....
ReplyDeleteI do like this design, I must have missed them when you posted before with them.
