Decision and new project.....plus blogiversary.......

Thanks for all of the votes and suggestions yesterday.  I have decided this is the way the quilt will be finished.  Like I mentioned yesterday I have enough of the gray fabric already cut into strips to make all new alternate blocks so it wasn't a decision of how to fix the blocks that were already sewn.  In the end I just didn't want to come up with a quilting design for the alternate plain blocks and this version will be easy to quilt.  I will be able to cut 2 sashing strips from each of the alternate blocks and If I decide to do any unpicking I could salvage 2 more strips from the side strips.  I have plenty of fabric left to finish this quilt into a decent size (or 2 of smaller size).
I have finally started on my postage stamp quilt.  Here is the inspiration quilt on Lynn's blog.  She made 81 blocks.  I'm not sure I can stick with it long enough to make that many so I'll just make a few every week and eventually decide I'm done and ready to sew them together.

Today is my 12th blogiversary -- I started this blog on July 4, 2007.  There have been 4591 posts before today and over 6 million page views.  AND.....I'm still having fun taking the photos and writing the posts.  I enjoy the world wide contact with so many people with similar interests.  Comments let me know you are still there reading my blog.  I would still write it even if no one commented but it is a bonus hearing from you.

  5. Happy blogiversary!! Comments are one of the best perks, but sadly commenters have become almost a thing of the past! I try to write one on several blogs a day... that I read. Not every day... tho... Just not enough time for that. Good luck on that postage stamp quilt!!! I am sewing vicariously. Machines are all packed up now... as is most everything related to quilting and sewing.

  14. Your postage stamp blocks are wonderful. I’m going to do one as well. I’m wondering if you are doing the twirling seams thing? It makes sense but I find it an annoying slow down. If you are doing it, maybe I’ll give it another chance.

And I do love your blog- so inspiring!

  28. Well done on surviving 12 years of blogging. I wonder how many words you've actually typed and photo's you've shared. I read your blog posts every day (even though I don't always comment) and you've inspired me with your designs and colour selections and posts about your garden flowers. Your postage stamp blocks look pretty and colourful - hopefully you'll make enough to create a quilt :)

  32. Being on the west coast I read your blog every night before bed. Plus, I've bought two of your quilt tops that spoke to me, even though I "could" have made them myself. I hope you stay healthy and blogging for many more years.

  33. English reader here too. I do enjoy reading your posts - your colours are sometimes outside my own comfort zone, so I do love to see the beauties that you produce. I still think my favourite one was your green Lady of the Lake.
I don't comment all the time though. I love flowers and now have a large vegetable section - haymaking at the moment while the weather holds. I did bring some plants from my old home - leaving them in the care of my mother - and she managed to kill most of them, even the orchids indoors - she cooked them in her conservatory when they like light but no sun! Ah well never mind. But a few are fine and I have brought them here now. The new land is rather time consuming at the moment until we get it all under control. When it rains, then indoors and sewing time. In the meantime it's nice to see your quilts and flowers when I'm not outside or sewing! Thank you.

  36. I'm not sure when I started following you, and I wish I had time to go back to the beginning of the blog, but I do periodically go back to follow a particular design or series. I love your use of color and the wide variety of patterns you bring to life. And the garden photos are fun as well. Here's to many more years.
