And then the fun begins............

Now the One Block Wonder quilt top is all sewn and the edge staystitched so no seams will pop and there should be minimal stretching of the edges which are partially bias.

Now I want to decide what side is up.  This is the position in which I designed it.

This is turned 90 degrees to the right.
This is turned 180 degrees or upside down to the way I designed it.

And here is the 4th position with one more turn to the right.

It ended up 35.5" x 53" so in a horizontal position it would be 1 inch less than the width of a double bed and would be a nice wallhanging above the headboard (or take the place of a headboard).

Today my 2 friends are coming over to sew. I will start organizing my batiks for colorwash.  The second offering of my online Colorwash360 class will be open for enrollment next week.  If you haven't previously signed up on my mailing list and would like info on the class go HERE to sign up.

I like the first two layouts the best. The top turned out so pretty. Have fun with your friends that are coming today. Sewing with friends is always a good time!

It doesn’t matter which direction you lay it because all are perfect. A very striking quilt.

Good morning Wanda.....I think this OBW, with the black fabric background, is the prettiest one I've seen. I'm going to check out my fabrics to see if there is enough of a fabric with a black background, suitable for making the OBW.

Well I will confess that the piece didn't appeal to me at all UNTIL you began playing with orientation/positions. I find the whole thing appealing in view two, where the upper right corner is lighter in weight/density. Nice work!!!!

I like 90 degrees tothe right best - there's something "Starry Night-ish" about it. Perfect for above a headboard or a sofa.

You inspired me so much with this beautiful quilt that I ordered and just received my equilateral triangle ruler. I don't have any fabrics as gorgeous as yours but I just want to have a go and try something new. I like the 1st photo if it's for a bed but the recipient would decide whats best for them, unless you are keeping it for yourself? Another masterpiece - well done :)

An elegant dream no matter which way it will be hung. This has been a fascinating creation to watch grow. It really shows off your professionalism at its best !

Beautiful quilt, Wanda! I like your original design orientation. Flowers in the foreground, a path leading back, and stars in the sky. (sorry if this comment posts twice, having trouble with google post)

This is so pretty. I love the dark background . . . I have a hard time seeing what I'm doing when I work with black or navy. These old eyes are not what they used to be.

This block fascinates me. I love #2 as a wall hanging.

I like the first two best - the first one if you hang it on the wall - the second one if you hang it over a bed. The black "uncluttered" background looks better at the top of the piece - to me - it doesn't seem to have the "weight" to be at the bottom - if that makes sense - ;))

Hi Wanda. I like #3 the best with the black in the lower right. It anchors the piece and the pink stars look as if they should be flying up, where our eyes (at least in the western world) start looking at most anything. Love this. They are so much fun to make because of all the surprises when designing each block. Very nice work!!

Much delayed comment! I like the first one. And I really love this quilt; reading about its construction, however, I’ve discovered another reason why I’ll never be making one of these: ironing all the seams open! I’d just never be happy doing that. I’m not a very precise presser in the best of times, and I really detest pressing seams open. I do realize why it occasionally is a good idea or even necessary; but I also realize why it is best for me to stay away from projects that require that kind of accuracy. I really don’t have the patience or appreciation for them. Well, I do appreciate the work others put into them and the beauty which is then created; but I do not appreciate doing it myself. I just don’t enjoy it one bit. And I want to enjoy quilting, that’s why I do it.
Thank you, as always, for sharing the beauty you create with the world. I do love being able to see and enjoy it in this way. ❤️
