It's Wanda's Birthday!!!!

Shhhh….(Vicki here…Wanda’s daughter) I’m sneaking onto the blog today to tell you that it’s Wanda’s 78th Birthday.  

Let’s show her how much we appreciate her dedication — over a decade of daily quilting inspiration!

    Happy birthday! I love your blog and read it almost daily (I do catch up if I miss a day). I love kaffe and afican fabrics and the way you do watercolours. Amazing work from an amazing lady. I have been inspired to explore in watercolours and have a pattern in my head (inspired by your work) just need to make some time.     Happy birthday, Wanda! I enjoy reading your blog every day. I was especially delighted to see the recent posts on using African fabrics. I have a large box full of African fabrics given to me by two separate friends, both people who had travelled extensively in Africa, buying both yardage and clothing (which I've deconstructed). I've washed and ironed all the fabric, but the only things I've made with it are placemats and a tablecloth for the givers, as a present back to them for the gift. Now I've got some inspiration to make use of these beautiful fabrics in a quilt--thanks!!

    Happy birthday, Wanda! I read your blog every day and am inspired by your work ethic and your methodical and efficient habits -- in addition to your quilt designs and your use of color. I appreciate your explanations of how you cut fabric, baste quilts, use your design walls, and so on. That even you needed to set aside time daily to work on unfinished projects showed me that prolific as you are, you still might share an odd habit here or there with someone like me.     Happy birthday Wanda! Thank you for your daily inspirational posts! At our last guild meeting, my favorite quilt shop owner was the speaker. She also brought a few things to vend. I loved the piece of yardage she showed and squealed when I saw it was Marsha Derse!! (Can’t remember the name, something like Historic Times?) Then I went to Quilt Festival in Houston and saw the whole liine. Thank you for introducing her to me!

    I really enjoy your blog and have told so many people about it. I love the fabrics you use - batiks, Kaffe Fassett, African prints, Australian etc.
    I love the way you play with fabric and layouts. It is so helpful to see how you go about it and change things around, giving them time to work for you.
    I have started a Double 4 patch - inspired by you.
    I bought Sujata Shah's book, Cultural Fusion Quilts, following a review you did of it, and made a rail fence quilt and it is my favourite quilt.

    My forest cactus is in bloom and it reminds me of you too.

    Your birthday and age will be easy for me to remember because I turn 58 tomorrow.
