While my granddaughter worked on her sewing project I pressed and cut half hexagons from my African fabric stash. There are 65 different prints cut so far and a total of 159 pieces.
My design wall isn't tall enough so the last 2 pieces in each column are pinned to the last piece on the wall. I need to cut 49 more pieces and they need to be dark and light. I have plenty of medium value prints already cut.

That's going to look cool....love the half hexes. I love hearing that your granddaughter is seeing with you...good for both of you.

What a fun time sewing with your granddaughter! I knew you had some African fabrics but I didn't realize you had that many! I only have a few light ones in my collection too. You just don't see as many of those.
This quilt is going to be soooo wonderful. I look forward to reading/seeing it's progression.
I started to cut one piece from all my boxes of scraps before we left on our fall trip back at the very end of August and have not gotten back to them. Mine will be very scrappy and not organized - must get that back out one day and start cutting again - I have the die
Those fabrics are just gorgeous.
Those half hexies are so much fun to sew! I like your African fabrics - so vibrant!
First thing that comes to mind when Africa is mention is their music and dancing... Your half 'hexies' are just that ! (*._.*)
