I got all of section 3 sewn but I didn't want to turn on the iron so it is not pressed. The more I get done on this Kaffe fabric Trip Around the World the better I like it.
While travelling through Tennessee we stopped at a quilt shop in Jonesborough, Tennessee Quilts.
My daughter fell in love with the large butterfly fabric and wanted it for the back of a quilt. I'm not sure what the front of the quilt will be yet. I also bought 4 of the companion prints that I think will work in a floral colorwash.
Here is another view of a couple of the butterflies. It is Dreamscapes II by Jason Yenter for In the Beginning fabrics.
It's so good to see you back sewing. I love butterfly fabrics and have collected a few for (hopefully) a future project. Your sample is gorgeous and I like how the wings are floral. Your TAW is looking great as well - can't wait to see the finished result. Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI saw that line when I visited my daughter last month. I did not buy it because I did not know what to do with it because I would have to cut it up and ruin the patterns. Your quilt looks dynamite.
ReplyDeleteThat butterfly print is gorgeous as is your TAW.
ReplyDeleteI love the butterflies! so very pretty I probably would have passed on it not knowing what I would use it for - I must keep that in mind for using the big prints for a backing -- glad to see you back to quilting - you must be all healed and back in action even if you might still be moving slower than usual - it always takes time to get the energy level back
ReplyDeleteGood morning Wanda....This morning, upon retrieving the paper, I made the decision to stay inside and sew, since the humidity was 94% and the air was quite oppressive. Those fabrics, especially the butterflies, are way to pretty to cut up, so the back of a quilt is the perfect place for them. They really are stunning.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite quilt shops! Oh the Kaffe extravaganza!
ReplyDeleteI can see why Vicki fell in love with the butterfly fabric ! It is gorgeous, I LOVE it too . Wonderful Sunday post.

That butterfly print is gorgeous! It will make a spectacular quilt back.
ReplyDeleteWish I had known you were at TN Quilts and I would have popped in to meet you! Hope you're doing well in your recovery.
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice by your daughter. And I agree about the TAW progress. Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you’re really back in the swing of things! Sewing, traveling, and shopping! That butterfly fabric is great same color scheme as the trip around the world, it seems to me. I wonder if that’s a coincidence! Or maybe your daughter is trying to tell you something?
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt shop in Jonesboro, I used to visit it every January on my way from my home in Kentucky to a quilt retreat in Hendersonville, NC, but for some reason it’s been several years since my last visit.
Beautiful fabric! I can see that using it for the back would be the best use for that butterfly fabric.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely buy the butterfly fabric, but then never cut it up, so using it as a back is a great idea. I like the other co-ordinates, too. Haven't seen that line in any of our shops.
