All of the Rose of Sharon Bushes are blooming now. This is the pinky lavender one with a red center. My blue lavender ones are on the other side of the house. Weather has turned a little cooler so we can have windows open. I hate the noise of the window A/C units and am enjoying quiet time.
Mine are still blooming after two weeks. My lilac didn’t bloom at all this year and I didn’t expect these to bloom either but they have done better than last year.
this is the first year that my Rose of Sharon has some buds but they do not seem to want to open. I got it as a tiny plant from my sister in law about 3 years ago if I remember right. It is just growing tall and skinny right now and is finally about 4 feet tall but only 3 spikes of branches (trunks) on it now - one has buds at the top but no where near to open. I wonder if I need to trim the tops off this fall so that it will branch out next year and get bushy
Our heat index is predicted under 100 today for the first time in weeks -- still lots of A/C to cope with the humidity but at least we hope stepping outside won't take our breath away today. Beautiful bloom.
So glad you are back home and that you have your family supporting you. Continue to rest and recover. Since I just found your blog last week I have plenty to read until you are back at your sewing machine! Prayers continue for your speedy and full recovery.
You are amazing. Major surgery and you are back to daily blogging already. I know resting is not usually part of your play book, but you need to regather your strength. You'll be back outside in that garden in no time. Meanwhile, you can dream up a dozen designs you want to try. Pat
Cooler days, a pink flower, all part of recovery. AC, when we were in Australia many years ago, I found them noisy, and keeping windows closed was not what we were used to here in NZ. Hope you find it is getting easier to rest and relax, books , the garden views, and family will all help.
My tiger lilies finished blooming at least a month ago (I am in Charleston SC), but I see an “Easter” lily peaking out from under their foliage with two buds on it. I don’t remember putting an Easter lily in there! So nice you are enjoying the fruits of all your hard work in the yard. Prayers for your continued healing. I know you must hear the fabric calling you...
"JUST" a pretty flower....NOT, lol. Mine are just starting to bloom (I'm near South Bend, just to east of you). Thank you for confirming the weather person's prediction that cooler weather is coming. However, we will still keep the windows closed because we have a bonus crop of gnats this year that come through the screens. Most of the flowers in my yard are bell shaped and the Hummers are flying around being crazy. They don't bother with the feeders when all this blooming is going on.
The simple things in life are very special. I think you appreciate all of them!
ReplyDeleteI just noticed the Rose of Sharon bush at Mom's house blooming this week. It is the same color as this one. They always make me think of my Dad.

ReplyDeleteWe have a white Rose of Sharon that is in bloom this week. Maybe 4 days now. They are so beautiful. Glad you are home and on the mend.
