This quilt pattern is in Karla Alexander's Color Shuffle book and she named it Out of Line. When she designed the ruler to go along with it she called it Straight Out of Line. I made one of these with Kaffe fabrics using just the directions in the book and then made this one using the ruler. The angle is deeper with the ruler. It ended up at 61" x 86".
I had planned a different backing fabric that had a creamy background but then I found I had enough of this fabric with a white background ant it looks much better. I usually have trouble with the camera making all of the purples blue but this time the color is true.
Here is a better look at the backing fabric. All photos will enlarge twice if you click on them.

Congratulations on another finish! The quilt is so pretty and that design is so fun.
Yes, the angle is much deeper with her ruler, such a pretty quilt.
I actually have that pattern, I took a class with Karla over 7 years ago and did the quilt on the cover of one of her books. I have the ruler, pattern a few of her books, but lost the interest in making any of them. Have to try to pass them along to someone who wants to make them. Your quilt is beautiful. I am sure the colors are even juicier in person.
That backing is perfect! I really enjoying making patterns twice and seeing the difference either in technique or color play or whatever. You have a gift of explanation and color! Thanks so much for sharing that with your internet audience.
This is an intriguing pattern. Congrats on a finish!
Very nice. That backing fabric is perfect for it.
So many colors of purple, violet and lavender that make this another spectacular quilt. Plus this quilt has so much fun movement, and patterns in it. Only you would tackle a design like this one, it looks very difficult to me. You have had a very productive June !

I am in love with those purples.
I have or had that book. It’s very pretty.
Beautiful -- congrats on another finish!
Just beautiful. Love, love, love these colors and design.
Purples are my favorite and the backing is perfect. I'm tempted by this, but I just can't buy another specialty ruler.
