Cutting and gardening..............

A friend came over to sew yesterday and while she was here I was pressing fabric and cutting for 3 quilts.  Here are the next 9 pairs for my 16 patch quilt.  I still have 5 pairs to cut.

Later in the afternoon my granddaughter came over to help me with some digging.  One of the projects was to dig out the huge hosta here and pull apart the sections.  I gave her 2 large sections and put the third one back in the same spot.  Now I can see bare ground around it.  Before it was overlapping all of the other plants.  My granddaughter finished the mowing for me too.
All three of the Columbines in the back garden are blooming.  I have 2 shades of pink in addition to this one with blue flowers.  I haven't seen any of my magenta ones this year.

  1. That was nice your granddaughter helped you out. I wish I could have hostas. The deer here will eat all the leaves and leave the stems so there is no point of having them. I love all those fabrics!

  2. Hooray for your helpful granddaughter! We have some huge hostas that will need to be divided next March or April.

  3. Always enjoy your flower posts. Lovely as ever.
Hats off to granddaughter for mowing.
You've got me inspired to make another red/black/gray/white quilt. And your 16 patch is delightful and think that might be the pattern I'll use.

  4. I bet it is nice to have help with the yard. I really need to dig my hostas or at least some of them up to divide - this fall perhaps? I will try. finally got a little rain last night it has been a good two weeks since the last time.

  5. It's a busy time of the year, balancing between quilting, sewing and gardening . . . but gardening can't wait, can it? LOL.
    Have a marvelous day.
