One of the batiks that I found in the green stack was this one with huge motifs.
Each one is slightly different in shape and color.
I have a yard of it so there are more of them. I must have bought this several years ago since it isn't the type I buy now.
For the first time ever I am going to make a quilt that is in a Kaffe Fassett book with the exact same fabrics as it is shown. A friend and I are going to work on them together. I am waiting for one more piece of fabric that I don't have enough of and she has ordered the ones that were missing from her stash. I will change the size a little though. It is only 4" longer than it is wide and I want a little more of a rectangular shape. That means I need to elongate the center rectangle and then re-figure how many strips need to be cut of each fabric.
Oh my! The stack fof fabric makes my knees weak. What a gorgeous combination for the quilt.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing this completed.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, after reading your post about Batik's, I decided to see how fabrics are actually created. I watched about 6 video's and loved seeing how all the different colours and techniques have such a beautiful effect.
ReplyDeleteIt's very cold outside today, the sun is shining but can you believe it's snowing again! It's all supposed to start changing after the weekend and the temp into double figures - hurrah! 3 more days to officially be Spring :)
I also have a Kaffe pattern picked out in one of his books and most of the fabric too. It’s not started yet, but soon I hope. I’ve not seen this pattern but I don’t have all his books, it looks lovely but I’m not too sure about that center sunflower.
ReplyDeleteI made this same quilt 2 years ago and adore it. Didn’t change the size but what a beauty to make and enjoy. Have a good time!!?
ReplyDeleteInteresting how three different designs on the same piece of batik fabric. Love that Kaffe quilt. Of course the prints make it so, will look forward to seeing this one.

kaffe fabrics make me drool big time...gonna be a gorgeous quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have got some strange batik like fabrics in my stash too. Some came from a grab bag which contained all kinds of odd African fabrics. It is fun to dig those out and think of how on earth I am going to use them!
ReplyDeleteLike yourself I love colour but when I saw this quilt in his book I have to say the soft tones were very appealing. I look forward to reading your posts on this.
