The neutral 16 patch top is sewn and is about 48" x 64". I think this photo shows the colors the best of all of the photos I have taken so far.
You can see how the camera wants to wash out the colors with a straight on view. Probably something half way between these 2 photos is what it looks like in daylight.
You can see there is a lot of color in some of the fabrics too.
This is one of my favorite blocks.
While I was at it I knitted a neutral dishcloth too from 3 partial balls of yarn.
It reminds me of pebbles on a beach. Very nice. I like the dishcloth too...a nice easy no brainer project. Only problem for me is that they get smelly so fast...do you have that issue? Another snow day here, coming off the Great Lakes! But it's warmed up a lot.
I really like this pattern and layout. I made a new to me pattern the other day. I was using four colors (9 fabrics plus the background). I had a preliminary layout but couldn't figure out how to fix my problem. I texted a picture to my husband's aunt and within three minutes she told me which two blocks to switch and she was spot on. You always do such a great job with color placement. I know, it takes time and experience! I'll hopefully get there eventually.
Next step is the quilting and that always adds even more beauty to the piece. You might have to leave this piece right there in your studio.... I saw the zebras on the wall near it. They go so well together.
love neutral quilts! this one is particularly a nice one. and that dishcloth is great as well. I love to use up leftovers like this--except I just detest having more ends to weave in. I've joined the SACK group--Supporting A Community with Kindness--organization donates bars of soap inside a crocheted "soap sack" to groups and facilities in those in need. Sacks are made of cotton yarn so they can be used as washcloths as well. Great way to use up those odd leftovers of cotton yarn. And quick.
