Table runner finished.............

I decided this Christmas table runner isn't going to finish itself so I dug into the Christmas fabric bin and found a backing and binding.

Here is a close up of some of the fabrics, all from about 20 years ago.

The backing fabric is an ugly, not a nice green and rather muddy looking print.  It is perfect for this project though.  The binding is probably a newer fabric but still maybe 10 years old.

A lot of the fabrics have gold metallic on them so I ditch quilted both ways with gold metallic thread.  I have it on a side table in my dining room but the lighting at night is poor in there so no photo of its destination.

The cardiac nurse said the reading from my pacemaker was good.  It is amazing that they can say on a certain day at a certain time that I had a few different heartbeats.  That tiny little computer is really processing a lot of information.

  1. I see some Christmas prints in your runner that I've had in my stash! This is such a pretty runner and so simple. I really like your half hexagon quilt top, too. That die may be coming to my house soon. Merry Christmas!

  3. I knew you were going to get that runner done. Good job. It turned out so pretty.

That is good news the reading was good. It is amazing to think that not that many years ago a computer would take up and entire room!

  6. I am sure that runner looks great in its destination location. The metallics in low light tend to catch glints of light.

The pacemaker news is wonderful! It is truly amazing what the miniature electronics can do these days.

  7. Hello Wanda!
Glad to hear a good report about your pacemaker. I wonder if those different heartbeats are from times where you were petting some really pretty new batiks! :) Merry Christmas, Wanda!

  8. The fabric and colors in the tablerunner remind me of my mother in law who always made lots of scrap Christmas decorations. I miss her so much every Christmas since 1996. She was a very slap dash sewer more concerned with getting it done and up. That probably comes from having 6 kids all pretty close in age.

  9. Great news from the cardiac appointment. Aren't computers amazing? I hope you got your questions answered too.

Your table runner turned out so nicely. I like the gold quilting lines.

  10. So happy you had good results from your cardiac surgeon. My DH goes every 3 months for a pacemaker check and they can tell him how long the unit will be operational, after which time, it will need replacing. At present, he has 2 1/2 years left on it and it was installed a little over 5 years ago. Technology is wonderful today, and that goes for his hearing aides as well. When he goes into Hines, they can tell how many hours each day he wears them and how good they are working. Enjoy your day!

  12. I have some of those fabrics in my stash too. Probably bought from a thrift store as I wasn’t quilting 20 years ago. Good news about the visit with your doctor.

  17. There's a green background print with gold snowflakes in your photo that I remember having. I made my daughter a smocked dress from it. She is now 36 so that fabric is probably close to 35 years old! I think I still have a few scraps from it, too. How fun. Thanks for sharing. Glad you are doing well with your pacemaker. Have a wonderful holiday.
