Quilting finished...........

I finished the ditch quilting late yesterday afternoon and then it was time to pull out the basting thread and trim the excess backing and batting.

I was looking for more of the black background Y2K fabric but couldn't find any so I used the other black print that is in the blocks.  It is in the "comma" line from Moda from a few years ago.

The binding looks good with both the front and the back.  I only got about 2/3 of one long side hand stitched last night.  This will take me a couple days to finish.

My indoor garden is doing well.  They didn't get to go outside for the summer so I wasn't sure how many blooms I would get.  They like to be in the dark a lot to form buds and mine are in the living room which rarely has a light on unless I have company.  This is my palest pink plant.
I rarely have this many blooms at once on my plants.

I had this plant marked as white but this year the blooms have a pale pink cast to them.

I have one champagne colored bloom so far.  With 20 Christmas cactus plants I usually have something blooming all winter.

  1. I loved seeing the UK flag on your backing :) Big Ben is undergoing some much needed refurbishments at the moment and will have scaffolding up for another year or so. Your cactus look so healthy and must have liked being indoors all summer and rewarded you with a flower show - I've never seen a champagne one before. I guess they are all too big and spread out for you to get them all together for a photo shoot?

  2. The cactus flowers are lovely. The champagne one is not one I had seen previously. If I had indoor plants I would be on the lookout for one of those..

  3. I love the fabric you used on the back. Do you know if it is still available or is it one of the gems you have had in you stash for awhile? The cacti are so pretty.

  4. Your cactus blooms are so lovely and delicate looking Wanda. I enjoy seeing your beautiful plants, especially now, when nothing outside is blooming. Did not realize you had so many of them and the champaign one is my favorite.

  5. I love that frog fabric in the third picture--I have a bit of it left and sneak it in here and there.

  6. The quilt is stunning and finished so well front and back.
I love the flowers- mine are a little sparse this year. Hmm.

  7. So nice to see your cactus blooms; somehow only one of my little collection made it through the summer (and it has no sign of blooms!), so I have been treating myself to new ones when they look especially pretty at the grocery store.

  8. My cactus have a zillion buds but are very slow opening so I’m thinking they will be true ‘Christmas cactus ‘. Love your champagne color.

  9. I enjoy watching your finishing steps of your zig zag quilt top. And like your other followers, I too have never seen a gold Christmas cactus. Seeing your array go blossoms has me thinking I need to start at least one Christmas cactus. Those blossoms always remind me of ballerina dancers.

I always enjoy seeing the things you make. You have a great eye! Oh, and it is snowing here in Alabama:) We are staying home -- people here don't know how to drive in it. Have you had snow yet?

  11. I love seeing your cactus flowers. I got the champagne one when you blogged about it. I mine also has several blooms. I use to put mine outside that worked for 2years tthen the squirrels and chipmunk started chewing on them so now they stay on my porch. How do you keep them from breaking off as they get bigger? I do as you are doing I replant them and they do well but I hate to see this happen. I’m a long time reader and I love following you.
