First finish in 4 months...........

I finished hand sewing the binding and this quilt is finally finished.  It is a little under 41" square.  There are African fabrics, Australian fabrics and batiks in this one.  This makes 20 finishes so far for 2017.  My goal was 26 and I was on track until August.  Now I'm not sure if I can finish 6 more by Dec. 31st but I will try.
I did some die cutting with my Accuquilt Studio die cutter yesterday too.  This is a stack of 104 half hexagons for a project I showed one day last week.  I have only cut  from my large scrap box so far so now I need to dig into the Kaffe yardage.  The largest percentage of this stack fall in the light category so now I can look for some medium and dark fabrics.

Today is the last warm day for awhile, the mid 60s.  By the end of the week we will be in the high 20s.  Big difference!

  1. Oh, I really like this! I am always learning about color placement....it would seem that one would want the bolder colors or prints to be evenly scattered throughout the quilt, but you don't do that and I like it a lot! Is there an art principle in this that guides you, or have you just learned through experience where to place them?

  3. Great finish! Live all those bright Kaffe half hexies. I could not find that pattern anywhere. Can't wait to what other colors you will pull.

  4. Such a Wonderfully vibrant quilt Wanda. You truly are a magician when it comes to combining colors and fabrics in a quilt.

Time to get the car washed before the cold weather sets in this week.

  6. It may be only one finish, but it is a real winner of a finish.

  8. The quilt is another winner, super cutting. Don't fret if there are not the planned finishes, health and happiness should be at the top of the list. You have done so well the last few months, and can give yourself a gold medal for everything you achieved since the surgery. Enjoy that last warmish day!!

  12. I think being sidelined with heart surgery is an acceptable excuse for not making your goal. The quilts you design are so intricate you deserve extra credit for finishing them. Hope you don't get too much snow. It was very windy here last night and raining now. Cold front moves in later today.

  13. I showed my friend this quilt and she said she would like to make it since she has some Australian fabric left. Could you tell me what the actual pattern is called? I know this is almost a yr. later...sorry. Thank you, Margie Yongue at mlyongue@yahoo.com.
