Final layout............

I finally got back to my colorwash and did the final tweaking.  Here it is not yet sewn and ready to take down in rows to go to the sewing machine.

This is what it looks like all webbed together as I add each row to the previously sewn part.

The seams are pressed up in one row and down in the next row.

I haven't pressed it yet but I had to admire my nicely matched intersections.

I will press it today and do the row of staystitching around the perimeter and then photograph it for tomorrow's blog post.

  1. Seems to me that you always have nicely matched intersections; pressed or not. Love it along with every thing else you do :-)

  2. Lovely fabrics as always. You've done a lot of work/sewing this week - are you resting in between or are you 'almost' back to your 'normal' self again :) and I've enjoyed watching your *Star Of The Show* coming together. Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

  4. So pretty! I am admiring your perfect intersections too. Mine aren’t always perfect but I don’t always fix them either....I think it would be so much fun to go fabric shopping with you! Would love to have your insight in fabric selection. (Don’t get me wrong.....I love fabric and love picking it out, no problem there! Just would enjoy hearing what goes through your mind as you are shopping for fabrics. Or do you always order your fabrics?)

  5. Gorgeous colorwash as usual! I also really like the surprise star quilt. I too was thinking the star was a bit on the white side, but adding the other lighter blocks really helped pull it all together.

Question on your color wash organizing trays - within each color family stack, do the trays then go light to dark also? i.e. for the yellows - does one tray contain light yellows another a bit darker, and so on, to a tray of dark yellows? Or do you have light & dark mixed on all the trays that change as you use or add new fabrics?
