I needed my design walls for some photography so I took down this Australian fabric quilt top and sewed the last 5 seams on it. It looks so much better sewn together than it did in the design stage. It is just a little under 60" x 80".
Most of the intersections of the triangle seams were good.
There were a few that are off by a tiny bit. The quilt is so busy that I'm not taking them out and doing them over. There is one tiny pucker that I will fix however.
I too think it looks much better sewn! I think your assessment that it looks better sewn than in pieces is right!!! I often find that to be true. Something about another color peaking through crooked placement makes it look jumbled and out of order to the brain.
Lovely! I like the sprinkling of large squares. Some quilts need zingers. Many of yours (and most of mine) benefit from a "visual rest stop", instead, lol.
I like those large squares scattered about - really like that, I don't take out the little intersections that aren't perfect either when using so many prints - no one notices except the one that makes it.
Unless someone went over this with a magnifying glass, it wouldn't be noticeable. As you said, it's such a busy quilt and doesn't matter. Another beautiful quilt Wanda.
When your nose is 10" from the quilt you will see everything, but once it is quilted no one will ever notice. The top is beautiful! I can't wait to see what you decide to use for the back. For the binding you could use just about any of the prints that are in the quilt top.
I love the Australian fabrics, and your organizational efficiency of thinking ahead to cut for several quilts at once when the fabric is out. It is a great way of being productive. When you cut out the solid blocks and added them to the triangles you brought this whole quilt to another level. Always a pleasure to see your decision making at work.
When it is sewn, it looks crisp and defined. Nice job. I am always lamenting when things don't meet no matter how accurate I cut, guide the fabric through the machine against an edge, press carefully- I hate it when the corners don't meet. I would think by now, that I would be better.
Oh, yeah - I saw that mismatch first thing - NOT!! - LOL - ;)) It's beautiful and the addition of the "squares" really does give the eye a place to rest - the fabrics are fabulous - ;))
Oh Wanda, it is absolutely glorious ! Your quilt tops are always stunning, and this one is just that. To combine that many fabrics into the explosion of your 'exuberant color' can only be accomplished by you, that is why I check in so often.
