I was home all day yesterday and spent 3/4 of the time in my studio. I cut 41 more small squares for the Seed Packet quilt......I mean I fussy cut every square one at a time. No speed cutting there. If a fabric had more than one kind of flower I cut several from that fabric. I think I have enough now for the double row around the quilt.
But first I need to get this quilt off the design wall. I cut more pieces and sewed the rest of the blocks, moved a few around to new positions and started sewing it together. I have just four more seams to sew and the top will be finished...unless I decide to add a border.
I need to get this quilt off another design wall and I'm still undecided on sashing fabric. I put the one on the left up there yesterday. It is kind of an apricot/gold with a mum design on it. The one on the right is one of the original fabrics I tried and is a beige print. I'm still undecided.

I don't usually comment but do enjoy your blog a lot. For me, it's obvious that the sashing to choose is the apricot one. It takes the quilt 'feeling' from wishy-washy to all warm and rich. Just my opinion, of course!!!
I really like this Drunkard's Path quilt!

Aren't some indoor days the best!!! Not having any of those this week!! I will be Opportunity Quilt sitting at the Co Fair tonight. It looks like you are going for a narrow sashing, but I really like how asymmetrical the sashing looks.... on the crosswise sash, apricot, another color (design wall) and the the light blue. Not sure how it would translate on a whole quilt.....but it made me look twice.
I avoid sashing usually, but love the apricot colored one on this. Excited to see the big blooms on the seed packet quilt too!
After I tore myself away from the flower blocks, I think I am leaning to the left on the sashing. The apricot does it for me.
I have to vote for the apricot gold sashing. I think it will make the other colors sing.
I like the apricot fabric!
Beige sashing highlights the colors in the blocks and has a serene look.
I like the way the Drunkard Path is turning out. That square print adds a liveliness to the quilt. Right now my design wall is blank and it will probably stay that way for a while. After I get the Harley quilt done I will be working only on the R.E.M. quilt, so there is no time to work on anything else. If you had another design wall it would probably have a quilt in process on it too! LOL!!
I love watching your quilts come together. If you don't mind my 2 cents. . .I think the apricot fabric is a better choice, the beige seems to blend into the blocks too much.
But, if you are anything like me, we will see the quilt completed with something entirely different! LOL
Have a lovely day,
Oh, that Drunkard's Path! Wow! It is just gorgeous. And the flowers - I don't have the patience you do!
I don't know about the sashing. It's hard to tell from here, but I'm sure you'll find the perfect thing. That's the real plus to having a sizable stash. ;)
re: drunkards path..
i am liking the irregular white of the design wall peeking through
the drunkard's path blocks...looking like a wonky modern quilt.
i am sure that is not what you are intending to do but i needed
to put in my two cents! Serendipity strikes again...
so envious you not only have a design wall but another one too
Love seeing your quilts in the making very inspiring
So much excitement in your studio right now. I love reading about your yard and flowers as well, but rarely comment, because I am decidedly not a gardener myself. You do such beautiful work outside as well as inside and I enjoy your garden and flowers but cannot relate to them in the same way! Your quilts excite me in a very different way, because I, too, make quilts, though at a much different pace! I look forward to seeing how the seed pack top progresses, it was fun to see just how many flower fabrics you have! And the Marcia Derse top is a beauty. The new fabric with the white/blue boxes is a surprise, but it provides a nice pop.
