Cutting again...........

I decided to cut up some neutral color scraps last night.  There are black, gray, brown and beige in there as well as a few brighter colors.

After sewing for a couple hours this is the selection from last night and the leftovers from last week added together.  I need to cut some jewel tone scraps now to sew more triangle squares before I design any more blocks.  I need to make 5 more blocks.
I saw 2 Rose Breasted Grosbeaks yesterday but they flew away before I could get to my camera.  A little later I saw the cardinal and he stayed there for quite awhile.  I love the red spot amongst all of the green.

  1. My cardinal woke me at 5 a.m. today! I love him, but really? He has a different song for different times of the day. I've heard they mate for life. My pair resides in the burning bushes on top of the retaining wall.

  3. We haven't had any grosbeaks, that I've seen, for several years, but there are cardinals aplenty. There are 4 pair that frequent our bird feeders, that are visible from our kitchen windows. I know they are supposed to be territorial, but these guys didn't get the message evidently. We really enjoy the fact that there are always bright spots of red throughout the day giving us pleasure.

  4. None of those vibrant red cardinals here. But we do have some beautiful blue birds that look just like yours...only blue. Occasionally, one will sit on the fence right outside the window while I sew. I can't wait to see what you do with those scrappy squares you put together. You have a good eye for matching fabrics together.

  5. Hi Wanda. Thanks for keeping on. Love the cardinal. We don't have them here and I miss them.

  6. What are those sparrows that I see all the time, like the one by the cardinal in this pic? Chipping sparrows? They have a different song, more shrill. I have not seen many sparrows around our yard this year, which is not a bad thing...they can overrun an area. The wrens, cardinals and chickadees are plentiful in my yard...

  7. I think we have a pair of cardinals nesting in or very close to our backyard. They spend a lot of time outside our kitchen window.
