I didn't plan to finish a quilt yesterday. Mid afternoon I decided to load this flannel tumbler quilt on the frame. Next thing I knew I was quilting it.
I used a medium brown thread on top and bottom and it really blended in well. In fact it blended so well I couldn't always tell where I had already quilted. I used a large meander and Warm and Natural batting. I decided the flannel needed a batting with scrim in it for the quilt to keep its shape with hard use.
I used one width of the darker piece of flannel on the back and a half width left over from another flannel quilt added to make the backing wide enough. The quilt is 61" x 82.5". The binding is one of the flannel plaids used in the the tumblers.

this looks great! Glad you mixed and broke up the sizes, as it is much more pleasing that way. Lots going on, but it looks so snuggly!
Very masculine looking. Someone will stay warm under that quilt. Chris
very unusual with two sizes of tumblers - really like and it looks so comfy
I'm amazed at what you get done....
You are an inspiration: )
This one didn't stay a top for long! It will be lovely to snuggle under.
Could you explain more about battings with and without scrim? That statement was a puzzle to me.
It turned out very well, Wanda. I like the way the smaller tumblers set off the larger ones.
just beautiful
Again ~ Your Tumbler design out does any I have see before. Combining the two sizes was a perfect for your flannel fabrics. And now that you mention it... I had to enlarge photo to see your meandering quilting pattern. Another great finish Wanda.

Wow, that one didn't get any time to marinate! It seems like just last week that you started it. It turned out great.
I really like this one, Wanda. I'll bet it feels amazing too.
I love it when the quilts let us know that it is their turn! What a wonderful finish.
This quilt oozes cozy. It was so very cold here this weekend and this quilt looks like it would have been the ticket. Great finish!
Amazing! It's a beautiful quilt and you made it so quickly from start to finish! It's done in time to be used while it's still a bit nippy this winter/spring, even! I've been to Savannah where it was really warmish, but when I got back here it didn't feel much like spring yet, and I'm sure it's even less true up your way.
Another finish - yeah! And this one did not even make it to the pile of quilts that needed finished ! It turned out wonderful and someone will love it!
Wanda,
Yours is the only blog I open and read every day. (Busy life.) And, I am never disappointed. I so appreciate your willingness to share your process and thoughts and the final product. Thank you! Becky G
I like the way you've mixed the sizes of tumblers in this one. It makes a really striking quilt.
I just love your work and especially am interested in knowing the size of the blocks on "cobblestone." It looks as if you use approximately 2 sizes of blocks but can't tell the size and would appreciate if you could tell me what they are. It also looks as if you connect the blocks in a strip and then connect the strips. Is this the case. I have some batik fabrics and would love to try this.
Thank you so much for your sharing.

Hey Wanda, I see you just keep on keeping on with all your quilts. I just got a Longarm and am really excited!!! We are setting up the frame and hoping to be up and running by Thursday!!! It's been a life long dream and it is now a reality!! Woo Hoo!! Do you have any tips? I'm trying to find a couple of recommendations for batting and thread. I got a ton of Superior Threads and they look awesome! Bottom line for the bobbin!! I have been thinking of you and had to hop on your blog to see what was happening in Sandwich, Illinoi!!!!
