A quick project...........

This is a new book from C&T Publishing with some fast projects.  I rarely buy precuts but I have a couple boxes full of 2.5" strips that I cut with a rotary cutter and I have dies for my die cutter for 5" squares and 10" squares.

This is my favorite quilt in the book.  I have a lot of strips from older fabrics, mostly from the 1990s that I need to use because they are getting ravelly in the box.

I am using all yellow prints for the light fabric.  This is one layout with the fabrics matched within the 4 quarters of the block.

I had to try them mixed too.  I think maybe matched will win on this one.

I wasn't paying attention and got the center strip sewn in wrong on 2 of the 4 quarter blocks in this combination.  I unsewed them and fixed them last night.  This will just be a small quilt, 20 twelve inch blocks.

  1. Such a neat way to use up your strips. I like the matched ones better also. Chris

  3. I like this pattern too. It's quite similar to something I made last year in a baby quilt. Your fabrics are interesting, curious about the final layout.

  5. I like the motion of the blocks when assembled. I think the matching is better too.

  7. I love your use of color with the light yellow fabrics as background - they really show off those darker colors. What a fun quilt!

  8. I think the mixed up blocks have more energy, more interest, and are very similar to your usual adventurous approach. Please don't go all dull and orderly on us, Wanda!!!!!

  9. 'Spritely' is going to be fun to watch grow... The mixed one caught my eye first... I always hesitate to voice an opinion as I am always wrong. (*._.*)

  10. Like this block a lot. My bee did a monthly 2.5" strip swap for a year (color choice decided for each month) and the next year decided to do it again, adding more colors. So I have 24 swap sets of strips in a wide array of colors. Been looking for something to use them that would be fun to sew. This is a contender. And as to the 2 wrong blocks at the bottom of your post, the left one looks correct to me. Am I missing something or is this a corrected one?
