I spent a lot of time in the basement yesterday. Remember this purple and green fabric that I considered as a backing for the purple 16 patch quilt? I remembered a group of fabrics that I had pulled for a Trip Around the World quilt class a couple years ago and the fabrics were still together. I pulled out a few fabrics, added a few more and I think they look great with this fabric which I have 6 yards of. I will probably add a few more purples, maybe batiks and this will be one of my 2017 quilts.
I loaded a small quilt on my longarm, piecing the batting from my huge bin of cutaway pieces. Hopefully it will get quilted today. I also chose backings for a couple quilts.
I went over my list of quilt tops from last year. I start each year with a new list of the ones not quilted, then add all of the tops to it that I make during the year - marking the ones that were finished or sold. Last year I had 66 tops on the list at year end, 6 of them sold, I finished 20 and sold 4 of the finished quilts ending with 40 not finished which are the start of the 2017 list. I did find 2 in the basement yesterday that aren't on the list so they will be added.

that is a lot of quilt tops - very prolific quilter
Those fabric selections look terrific with that big yardage. I listed all my tops on some pages that I made, but am afraid to count.
42 to finish - that is a lot, but you are down from 66 so you did good!
I love the fabric combo. I love purple and green together.
A funny bit - while at the New Year's Day weaving event, one weaver grabbed a cone of purple yarn and a cone of green yarn. Another weaver said "Purple and green -Together?!?" Of course, I chimed right in and said "Sure, add some yellow and white and you have the colors in an iris. Any color combo in nature is sure to work in weaving or quilting!"
Needless to say, a couple of people were a bit more free in choosing colors after that.
Can't wait to see it. Love the fabric pull!
Love those colors!!!!
Yes, those fabrics are great together. Now what are you going to make with it ? We are ready!
I love that purple/green print - I used it on my trailer quilt log cabin style (great minds think alike) *grins*
40 flimsies? We can't wait to see how you finish those Wanda.
I made a small baby quilt (Trip Around the World) this weekend since I had a 4 day holiday. I don't think I'll ever get tired of that pattern. One of my favorite quilt stores in McKinney, TX is closing - well, closing the physical store and they will have an online store. They are having a sale (30% off everything) so I'm going Saturday to buy some Kaffe fabrics for backings. I hate that this lovely store is closing but I understand she wants to sermi-retire. (Now I just need to find a pattern for the Kaffe fabrics I've been collecting....)
You have more than a stash... you have a store of "exuberant" fabric, to select from. Always a treat to see your combinations. And even more fun to see the piece you design with them.

Ooh, I love those colors! Funny, I'm doing a small piece with similar colors.
just need to say that you are very prolific with successful work.
It is delightful to come here and see all that you have done since the last visit!
Happy new Year!

So now I don't feel so worried about my 14 waiting to be quilted . . . I really do want to be like you when I grow up!
Purple and green is one of my favorite combinations ... love it and looking forward to your quilt top. They are so beautiful!
One of my favorite combinations. As Gene said, add a spot of yellow and you have Irises, one of my favorite flowers. Can't wait to see what these become.
