Quilted and trimmed.............
I decided to do loops of many sizes on this quilt. It took me about three hours. The quilt ended up 70.5" x 93.5" so it shrunk up 1.5" in one direction and 2.5" in the other direction. I used Hobbs 80/20 batting and that one usually does shrink up in quilting. When I use Warm and Natural batting there isn't usually more than a half inch of shrinkage because of the scrim that the cotton is punched into.
There are 1728 two inch squares in this quilt and I could have driven myself crazy quilting something in each little square (think heart, star, flower).
I prefer a relaxed type of quilting.
I haven't looked for binding fabric yet. I might use the leftover piece of backing fabric.
You can see a little peek of the backing fabric here. I bought that pink fabric with allover petals about 15 years ago knowing I would make a pink quilt someday.

I am a little biased toward pink, and have to say I love this! I agree a nice overall design suits it, too, and love that it was a reasonable length of time. This just looks like a cozy, happy quilt that will be used. The best kind!
The loops are great on this quilt. When I teach FMQ I stress that loops are just the thing for borders that are wavy because they can "eat" up any extra fullness. So besides the batting, the loops increase the shrinking effect. Plus I love the texture they create.

I can tell you are trying to get some finishes in before the end of the year that you have the quilting frame busy - the quilt looks great and quilting in each of those little squares would have taken a lot of time!

Now you know I'm not a big pink fan....but I do love this quilt. It reminds me of those puffy little pillow mints that melt in your mouth that restaurants used to have at the check-out. I had to laugh when I read your comment about quilting a motif in each and every square! Not a typical thought process, and your quilting is so much more appropriate! I agree with the readers that said they were thankful for having you in their lives daily. You start us all out with "exuberant" colors, diversity in quilts and always thought-provoking insights...and, you do that math thing that I so dislike. :) Happy Thanksgiving, Wanda and everyone!
Quilt looks terrific! I did not know that about the Hobbs, which is what I have a roll of. The Warm and Natural seems like a better choice for me as I do lap quilts. Do you find the batting is of the same quality? Which Warm and Natural are you using? Joann's has some on sale.
