Busy day.........

I had a busy day yesterday, washing 4 storm windows, moving lots of stuff in the garage so I could get to something, putting everything away later.  My family came over and helped put in light bulbs and hang storm windows.  I have missed having something to sew in the main floor studio at night so I pulled the box of 1.5" strips and sorted some into groups of 4.
There are lots of patterns I can use these for so I'm make a decision later.  I only got one strip set sewn.  I mixed 2 batches of cookie dough and cleared off 3 tables in the basement.  One more day to finish cleaning up the basement for the art quilters on Monday.

  1. I love it when you start something new :)
I was wondering - what are 'storm' windows? Obviously to protect against storms but what are they made of and what do they protect you from? Not something we have here in the UK.
Our 3 cactus plants are slowly blooming in 3 shades - crimson red and a light and a dark pink. The dark pink one is a cutting that has been in water for months now as I kept forgetting to pot it up, but I have given it some feed and it's doing so well with lots of buds and full flowers, so I'll just leave it now until it finishes blooming. Enjoy the rest of your weekend - I'm off to finish some gift making.

  2. so glad you have family that can come and help you with the heavy stuff preparing for winter and replacing light bulbs I know so many that have to call a handy man because they can not get up on tall step stools and do some of those things themselves - I know I would have to be calling my brother or nephew to help with a few things if my husband goes before me.

  3. We were just looking at our windows yesterday wondering if there are storm windows here in the house somewhere-we just bought this house. I do feel the cold coming in and I know there are screens, so are there storm windows too ? Sure make a difference to a house in winter , doesn't it ?

  4. After a week of hosting I'm finally catching up on blogs. I am in awe of your organizing talents. The seed packet is coming along beautifully. We no longer have storm windows (upgraded a few years back). I didn't like putting them up but loved taking them down..when spring was here.
