I sewed two more blocks last night. Right now it looks a bit boring with the same stripes repeated over and over. When I get all of the blocks cut there will be a larger variety. The fabric in the top left block is an Australian fabric. The other three are at least 15 years old.
I went to church sewing circle yesterday afternoon and on the way home I stopped at the car dealer repair dept. Sunday morning my car battery was dead and the battery isn't even 3 years old. My neighbor jumped it for me on Sunday and luckily it started every time after that. I stopped to have the mechanics check the battery and after a 45 minute diagnostic test they found it had a bad cell so I have a new battery.
YaY for receipts and good neighbors!!! At least it wasn't a Samsung battery!! Wouldn't it be nice if things were made to last instead of just made for the moment!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe more I see of your new blocks the more I am liking them - a mixture of colour and 'muddy' :)
ReplyDeleteWe still have sunshine but it's cooler now and the nights are getting colder - soon be time to get out my electric blanket. I rarely sleep with it on but good to warm the bed before I get in. My outside Begonias are doing well and the Fuchsia are still in flower.
At least you did not get stranded somewhere and in bad weather. Hopefully the new battery will behave better. Once, I had a battery blow up when we started a not very old Aerostar. The sound was something else and battery acid was dripping all over the engine when we opened the hood. That car was the worst I ever owned.
ReplyDeleteI had an oil change on my car and they told me I needed a new battery. They said they had a good deal going and it was only $159.20 ! I declined their kind offer and went to Rural King and bought a 5 year battery for $59 and one of the clerks went out and put it in free. With winter coming, I didn't want to be stranded. Good thing you got yours replaced too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't get stranded with a dead battery! The blocks are coming along. This will be fun to watch as you add more blocks.
ReplyDeleteYou know you can always call us if you have a problem like that, Wanda. So glad you had help and were tenacious about getting the car dealer involved.
ReplyDeleteQuiltywise...these "X's" are going well! That is going to be a very bright and happy quilt!
Like all four X blocks... but WOW the orange one and I am a blue person. (*._,*) Will be waiting to see all blocks.
ReplyDeleteTractor, hen, sun flower, tea pot and fruit jars ... I think I could tackle that one. So country happy !

Pretty blocks - as always your fabric/color choices are spot on!
ReplyDeleteLucky the weather was okay when your battery went out, glad all fixed for you now!
