I'm making a feeble attempt to have a finish in September. It has been months since I've had a finish. I helped a friend baste a quilt in the morning and then in the afternoon I quilted this 33" square wallhanging in vertical lines near the seam with Invisifil thread. I thought maybe this dark stripe would be a good binding but I couldn't come to a decision last night.
I decided to search through some of my larger prints as possible candidates for the quilt I showed on yesterday's post. Some of these are between 25 and 30 years old, a few are newer prints. No decisions there either, just fun petting fabric.
I think the stripe is a really nice choice. Could you put it under the top more, so we only see about as much as we would see with the binding attached?
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, I know you like to have a number of finishes, but even with no finishes, we all know that you have been productive, just the same. Regarding the colorwash, I finished my piece with a facing and love that look. And those large print fabrics, gorgeous! The red print, top center with some olive green and purple on it, is one of my all-time favorites!
ReplyDeleteThose prints look like they could have been printed yesterday. they are not dated at all. I like the stripe for the binding. Once the yard work is done for the year, more finishes will be coming your way I am sure! We got a lot of rain yesterday and last night, so I need to head out and dig up weeds while the ground is soft. Not what I really want to do. You are better at keeping after the weeds than I am!
ReplyDeleteNo worries about a finish - they will happen when the time comes. You have shared some gorgeous WIP photos (and garden pics) this month !
ReplyDeleteAny day looking or petting fabric is a good day.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that stripe with the quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou might not have got a finish but your friend will be happy with the help you gave her. Those fabric pieces are so 'delicious' - I like the one with the red leaves.
ReplyDeleteThe weekend is here again and while the weather has been pleasant I managed to do some garden clearance, ready for the fortnightly recycling pick-up today. Flu jab tomorrow and a visit to a craft fayre - hope you have a productive weekend :)
Isn't it a good feeling to rediscover fabrics from ages ago, a lot that had been forgotten they were in the stash! You have a wonderful selection there.
ReplyDeleteYou have, hands down, the best fabric collection ever! I love seeing you resurrect those older fabrics and mix them with the new!
