Big bloom and catalog......

The Dahlia bloom is not completely open yet and not quite dinner plate size.  I wonder if it will be smaller because I'm growing it in a pot.

I finally finished cutting branches and adding to the pile.  Pickup starts tomorrow in my section of town.  I did a little housecleaning too......there is more to do of course.

I added 4 more fabrics to my Kaffe Fassett fabric catalog "page" on my right sidebar.

  2. We grew them a couple years, but the bugs ate them so badly. I finally gave up on them. We had the purple and white ones that got as big as cauliflower heads. Chris

  3. High Hampton Inn in Cashiers, NC had a dahlia garden in the late 90s -- may still have. If you asked at the front desk, they'd give you scissors to go cut your own for your dining room table. Aside from the golf, the garden was my favorite reason for staying there.

  4. That dahlia is just gorgeous. It is probably smaller than had it been grown in the ground.

  5. What a beautiful lemony bloom! I have trouble with munching bugs as well. It's usually the darned Asian beetles chewing up my roses. They crawl into the buds before they are totally open and also eat the leaves off. Very irritating. Tried Sevin in various forms...not satisfied. Prior to that it was slugs on the hostas. I know to use diatomaceous earth for that issue. Anywhoooo, I look forward to you getting the Kaffes all logged on the cards. Many times while looking at one of his books, I am left to wonder exactly how many colors of that particular print there are. I soon will know the answer! :) You can't have too many Kaffes!
