A large colorwash takes at least a week to design and sew (plus another 2 days to quilt the layers and finish the edge), and that is after cutting for several weeks to have the variety of fabrics laid out on trays covering 3 tables. The variety of fabric is the key to success with a colorwash. I have collected the fabrics over a period of 20 years to use in the colorwashes.
I have had some inquiries whether I sell my colorwash wallhangings. I have
The first peony has bloomed. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you will see the ants busily working on the flower.
My dark Jack-in-the-Pulpits finally came up and are blooming.
I have at least a dozen patches of the star flowers all over the backyard. The patches of grass (leaves?) have died down and now the flowers bloom.

Now you have me excited...can't wait to see what is coming.
I have some of those tiny white flowers every year I thought they were called snowdrops for some reason :) star flowers makes more sense. They were given to me with a bunch of other bulbs and the person didn't know what all was in the box and I just planted not knowing for sure what I had.
My Peony has not bloomed yet - it looks the same colour as yours but I'm sure the edges of the petals are different - I'll find out in a few days time (unless I go look in my garden folder for past images) but I'm busy sewing some binding on by hand so it will have to wait. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday - happy stitching :)
You are extraordinarily excellent in making color wash quilts. I can see your problem but I think you need another design wall with great lighting. These color wash quilts are important to you so focus on a special spot in your basement to make them. So often we don't do what we love and what is important to us. It has been a big problem for me in my life.
Yes, adore your color washes Wanda AND I know the cutting must be time consuming!
Love your peonies. I have nice pink ones, but ours have long since bloomed here in Texas.
Your colorwash quilts are beyond fantastic!
One thing I did to open up the design wall problem is buy a sheet of Insul-R foam board at Home Depot. It is foil faced on two sides, thick enough to pin a pin straight in to the head, and I cut it up to the sizes I wanted and covered one with felt and the other with some fleece I had around. Just clear duck taped on the material on the back. They stack out of the way when I am not using them, very light to move and totally rigid.
Magnificence color washes ! No one can do it better than you do, Wanda. Enjoyed all your springtime blossoms and foliage.

It's always a pleasure to see your colour wash quilts take shape, wondering now about your next two!
How I wish I could grow paeonies where we live, that is a glorious red. I know that some are scented, does this one have a perfume?
