I had a busy day yesterday with lots of errands that needed to be done. By late afternoon I got to the sewing machine and sewed on the black with white borders. It ended up 44" x 50". I have mixed feelings about this one; glad to have the blocks finally used but it is not so great from a design standpoint.
Last night as storms rumbled through the area I sewed the last 3 columns of the neutral quilt and got it all sewn together. I think it resembles marble tiles. The final size is 54" x 62".
I think maybe it needs to be turned 1/4 turn to be a wallhanging.
Two great quilts, I like how the neutral still has 'exuberant color' in each block.
ReplyDeleteI love this neutral quilt! Initially I preferred the non-offset layout. But now that I see it entire, I like both equally.

Two great finishes! You are right, it does look like marble inlay tile. A done quilt is always better than an unfinished quilt.
ReplyDeleteI like the neutral quilt and does look something like marble tiles - the black and white border on the first quilt makes me dizzy - LOL - but that is just me I can not use that type of print often as it really does make me dizzy my equal Librium gets off with it. I use that type of print once in awhile but always find I can't work with it for long before I get dizzy - it is very unique though
ReplyDeleteI think both quilts came out wonderful! The first one is so edgy and the other is so calm. I like them both very much!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference that quarter turn makes! Yes, that perspective does seem better for a wall hanging.
ReplyDeleteI really love that neutral with the pops of color. I think the first one is lovely too.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me to see how much you get done, day after day.
ReplyDeleteTwo great finishes!
ReplyDeleteI really love the neutral quilt!! I agree that it looks like marble, and the squares of color really make it pop!!
Thanks for sharing!

I like the outer B&W stripes but not keen on the inner W&B - just my preference, but otherwise 2 more beautiful quilts :)
ReplyDeleteOh, that first one just makes my heart sing!

ReplyDeletegorgeous! That will be a really relaxing quilt to be wrapped in.
ReplyDeleteWell, dear Wanda, you already know I love both of these quilts for totally opposite reasons, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMarble, you nailed it! Can't wait to see it quilted!
